I don't have a mac but do have ipad/iphone and am pretty happy with what they do.
What I have added is Apple Airport Express.
They have a couple of functions, the simplest is to act as a repeater and extend the coverage of your wifi signal.
My use however is to use them as a replacement for pesky cabling. Any networkable device (e.g a printer) outside of cable reach can be plugged in to the Airport and thereby become visible to your wifi network. But it doesn't stop there it also lets you connect dumb devices that are not inherently networked to your home wifi. I do this with speakers. A cheap set of Logitech speakers and an Airport become wifi enabled speakers anywhere you have a powerpoint.
I have speakers in the lounge, outside in the garden and in the bedroom all using airports to connect to the wifi.
My music runs on itunes on my pc and i can direct its output to any set of speakers I like. Now comes the magic of apple, which they do very well. I can be anywhere in wifi range and use either my iphone or ipad (one is always near to hand) as a remote control to change both the music and the speakers to which it is being directed. If my computer is not on, or itunes not running I can also send the output of my phone or ipad to any set of speakers enabled. It's quite amazing flexibility.
They have a range of inputs and can be used with just about anything. About 3000 baht each.
