I meant always plugged into the portable HDD, so don't take the USB out.Originally Posted by barbaro
News to me. Last time I got a new Toshiba 1 TB about a month ago and it seems much more sturdy and I think a few bucks more than the WD. But yeah probably all the same shit inside.Originally Posted by Norton
I've not had good luck with Seagate. Will stick with WD. At least until they go tits up. Then I'll bitch, complain and switch.Originally Posted by dirtydog
Maybe also a good idea, wherever you are storing them, to throw in some of those desiccant packs, to absorb the moisture.
lads, i have had my WD portable HDD for a while now, at least 2 years.
Never had any problems. Plug it into the offices's PC USB in the morning, unplug and take it home in the evening.
Of course now that I did this post the fukkin thing will shit itself tomorrow morning.
Thanks, Norton.
3TB is A LOT.
Price on that? I'm checking now.
I assume Toshiba, being Japanese, has good quality - even though they are likely made in China.
Same factories as WD (Western Digital)? Thanks for that info.
The only think that would put me off on a 3TB portable is: with this much space, I would store so much stuff on it, that if I lost it, broke it, got it wet, or it went kaput, I would be out a lot of things I spent so much time to gather.
But then again, I suppose that is why it's called "back-up."
............
Stay away from Seagate. It's that simple. Western Digital or Hitachi.
