Seagate: Hard disks are crap but service is good

My main hard disk suddenly gave up last week.
No warning, no errors, no noise just suddenly stopped and left me with a dead computer.
It was only 18 months old so I sent it back to the makers.
They received it on Friday afternoon.
They sent me a new replacement on Sunday by UPS.
I give them 10/10 for service.

I bought an SSD disk to keep me going until my HD gets replaced.
Fuck me, they are fast, really speeds things up especially booting

Intel 60GB SSD disk cost me 2300 baht.
I don't want to part with it now, it is so quick.

I found seagate to be shit so I switched to using WD a few years ago.

    I have:

    3 1TB My Books
    6 1TB My Passports
    2 500GB My Passports and
    4 1TB internal HDD's.

Register them all online with WD when I buy them.

I had one of the My Passports and one of the my Books develop a problem recently.

Took them into the WD Service Centre in Panthip and walked out 5 minutes later with replacements for each.

    Easy Peasy.

    Fuck Seagate.

A WD drive failed on me recently. WD made no attempt to retrieve my data.

I have switched to Seagate and now have a back-up drive.

    Can anyone explain this.
My new HDD was sent by UPS from Singapore.
It has been flown to Schenzen in China.
From there it has been flown to Bangkok.

That means it has passed overhead twice.
No wonder UPS charges are so high.

should they have thrown your HDD out of the window, while over thailand?

its always much of a hassle, programs are missing, everything installing anew...
but a good directory structure for data eases "backups"... then just a regular copy to an external HDD...

i once had data recovered professionally, it was like 40something or 80something gigabyte... and around 1000 euro i think...
