    Apple Issues.

    Hi All,

Having a few problems with the wifi network at home. I can connect to it using two differant laptops with no problems. For some reason cannot connect using the IPad and IPhone.

They are both seeing the network, but I cannot connnect to the internet with them. I have done all the normal switch off and fire them up to no avail.

    Any ideas, Cheers TP

PS. Should of added they have connected previously.

Try telling the iPad to 'forget' the network, and then re-enter your wifi password to log in- sometimes that does the trick.

Could be an IP conflict- go to the wifi settings on the iPad, click the arrow next to the network you want to connect to, and click 'renew lease' and see if that works.

Then I suggest you to think over what changes you have done since they last worked.

If you are comfortable doing it, I'd make sure the router has the latest firmware. If it hasn't, upgrade it (which will reset it as well).

    Otherwise, maybe try resetting it.

Make a note of all the ISP settings before you do this, you'll have to put them back in.

I don't know enough about Apple shit to tell you how to tinker with the network settings, but there are other things to look at such as channel, encryption type etc.

What security is on the WiFi?
Has that changed since they last connected?
Any error messages (connection timed out etc) or is it just nothing happening?
Is everything trying to connect using DHCP?
Is the wifi perhaps out of IP addresses to assign from its pool?

FS made a good suggestion in post #4, but you might need to go further and delete the network connections on all your devices and then re-add them one by one.

I have experienced issues connecting iPhones and Ipads to wireless routers that have auto chanelling enabled, resolved by telling the router what channel to use. This would explain why the ipad did connect but now wont.
If you were previously able to connect but now cant, I doubt a firmware upgrade will be the answer (though the issue may coincidently resolve).
If the above doesn't work try resetting the router (making note of ISP and security settings before hand).
Is the iPad able to connect to other wireless networks??

The Bangalore call centre tech support help desk would just suggest a power cycle, and then say faulty equipment.... but you wouldn't be able to understand that that was what the were saying.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the ideas. Took it to the 3BB shop and they did something to the Router (software) and it works now!!

    Cheers, TP
