Just asked our admin and apparently our standard if someone asks for a colour inkjet is Canon. There are a few Epsons around, but all things being equal we don't normally quibble over the price, if they chose one over the other it would probably be based on feedback from the users and the PC engineers who fix/replace them.
Just sayin'.

Well on my desk is a Canon Pixma ip4200, and that drinks ink like I drink beer.
On the other side is a Canon S750.
And there's an HP CP1525W Colour Laser on the Wifi.
I think the S750 is the cheapest of those three, good enough printer if not very fast (unless in economode).
I'm not sure if either of the Canon's are particularly new.
