Anyone else got email problems ?

I can't send or receive emails today either using my email server or through gmail.
I get the message "Socket Error: 10054 , Port: 465, Protocol: SMTP.An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."

I assume this is another TOT cock up can anyone enlighten me about what the message means.

you are using OE I guess from the wording of that error,

seems a connection is already opened for your account on that port and Google is blocking you, per OE error message

but it could be TOT your ISP fucking up the whole thing in terms of network as usual, with their silly surveillance proxy

you have the same error by using the webmail function ? that sounds very strange, the messages on your web browser wouldn't be the same

It's a waste of time trying to figure out error messages as they are usually misleading. I can access gmail ok through the web, but not POP3 (Outlook) either. I imagine it'll clear up soon.

That's because they use different ports. Something is blocking or hijacking port 465.

Start with a complete virus scan.

If that's clean, turn off your Firewall temporarily and try again.

If that doesn't work, then I'd be surprised if TOT are blocking port 465 for you alone, and no-one else seems to be having the problem.

Did you set this account up yourself and choose port 465 or were you following someone's instructions? Is this to access your ISP mail or are you trying to read your GMail with Outlook/Express?

Try those two first and report back.
The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

    Tried that, still not working

I'm trying to access my gmail accounts using Incredimail.
    Incredimail chose port 465.
It's been working for years and then stopped today

Hey, it's suddenly just started working again.
I didn't change any settings so I think it must have been TOT blocking it.

The TOT signal I receive is sometimes up & down like a whore's drawers. Best signal is around 7.5mbps down, 3 or 4 up. W/regard to access though, the modem has to be re-booted every few days or it'll lock up.

Strangely, 3bb seem to be blocking port 995 SSL POP port, so I missed 2 jobs today.

    Dumb fucking fuckers.
