I can say that boxers are great dogs having had a pair. Loyal, family oriented, can guard very well while being gentle and loving to all the family, including the family cats.

They're also overbred and have a few problems that need looking out for. A friend had to have his pup put down for a hole in its heart which is one of the common ailments in them i was told.

Very true. We had boxers for years and never had any problems but, as you say they're overbred and if not coming from a reputable breeder can be a bit of a problem.

Loads of problems and theyre not suited to Thailamd

Leading health issues to which Boxers are prone include cancers, heart conditions such as aortic stenosis and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (the so-called "Boxer cardiomyopathy"),[32] hypothyroidism, hip dysplasia, and degenerative myelopathy and epilepsy; other conditions that may be seen are gastric dilatation volvulus (also known as bloat), intestinal problems, and allergies (although these may be more related to diet than breed).[33][34] Entropion, a malformation of the eyelid requiring surgical correction, is occasionally seen, and some lines have a tendency toward spondylosis deformans, a fusing of the spine,[35] or dystocia.[36] Other conditions that are less common but occur more often in Boxers than other breeds are hystiocytic ulcerative colitis (sometimes called Boxer colitis), an invasive E. coli infection,[37] and indolent corneal ulcers, often called Boxer eye ulcers.

About 22% of puppies die before reaching 7 weeks of age.[38] Stillbirth is the most frequent cause of death, followed by infection. Mortality due to infection increases significantly with increases in inbreeding.[38]

According to a UK Kennel Club health survey, cancer accounts for 38.5% of Boxer deaths, followed by old age (21.5%), cardiac (6.9%) and gastrointestinal (6.9%) related issues. The breed is particularly predisposed to mast cell tumours, a cancer of the immune system.[39] Median lifespan was 10.25 years.[40] Responsible breeders use available tests to screen their breeding stock before breeding, and in some cases throughout the life of the dog, in an attempt to minimize the occurrence of these diseases in future generations.[41]

Boxers are known to be very sensitive to the hypotensive and bradycardiac effects of a commonly used veterinary sedative, acepromazine.[42] It is recommended that the drug be avoided in the Boxer breed.[43]

As an athletic breed, proper exercise and conditioning is important for the continued health and longevity of the Boxer.[4] Care must be taken not to over-exercise young dogs, as this may damage growing bones; however, once mature, Boxers can be excellent jogging or running companions. Because of their brachycephalic head, they do not do well with high heat or humidity, and common sense should prevail when exercising a Boxer in these conditions.

    Hi,
It is indeed 15k for one pupp. And a bit comment on the post with all the boxer possible ailments:
We moved recently to huahin area with more space for the dogs. But my previous boxer died at 15years and 8 months of age. Having whole its life lived in front of our house on a 30m2 place with 2 small walks/day to the road, i would say that due to the hot climate these athletic dogs need less movement than in a cooler climate. The old house was in nakhon pathom, very hot usually.
The dog had never any ailments until 3 months before her death.

To make sure mate, post up Dillinger's Email address on here as well so we have it down correctly. That way, if anything happens with that, someone else can step in and get the pictures up safely for you.

You should get the top one Dill.

Boxers are brilliant dogs, loyal and great with kids.

    Good guard dogs as well.

Best thing I ever bought my kids was our dog

Lovely looking dogs. A friend of mine has a pair of Boxers. They are great dogs, but very energetic and need a lot of space and exercise. (My mate paid quite a bit more than Tommy's asking price to some breeder in Chiang Mai). Bargain.

I like the top (brown) one as well. Too bad I'm in the wrong country.....and that my two big dogs don't like interlopers.
