Oven required! Must be cheap as chips.

Looking for a second hand oven preferably not to dirty, but will accept anything so long as it's like the budgie and cheap or better still free.

Bangkok area preferred as the proud new owner will be collecting and strapping it on the back of his moped with a couple of bungee cords.

Would be nice to have it before Xmas.

Please state what oven model you have, price and area.

    Much obliged

Purchasing shit, sight unseen, for others half a world away is a muse.
    Quite ridiculous and naive novelty.

Just got in from the neighbor's thanksgiving bash. The turkey was Cooked in the largest toaster oven that is available in Mandalay- seen similar in BKK for around 5000-8000 baht. It is moist and flavorsome- it cooked for around 3 hours, apparently.

Wonder if it's any good for roast potatoes or Baked Alaska..

    Tip for ovenless "roast' potatoes

It may have been in the spuds thread

1 Parboil whole spuds, rinse dry with towel
2 Slice into thinnish wedges so plenty of surface area
3 Fry even a wok/deep fryer, I use a deep steel pan which fits in my oven also
4 I roll mine in cracked black peer and herbs first use mix of olive nut and butter as fat, you may wish to add shallots onions etc (Better to cook with Meat if you get a real Oven)
5 If you can obtain goose fat (Gold standard) or Lard even better

Bon Appetite.Copper or Zebra steel pans good Le Creusot better

PS I know wedge shape is non trad but tastes even better in my sub gourmet trainee epicure book.

Ovens of that type can be found easily in Thailand,CCC, and are not all expensve. Some go for 2000B, some for more, some for less. Depends on the size and how many bells and whistles you want. There's not much benefit in buying second hand IMO. Just go and buy a new one.
