    Hong Kong Pics

Popped off to HK for a few days solo adventure.. only took my backpack.
    #backpacker

No real plan.. just did what I feel like and used Google to research. Sampled a few beverages, noodles n dim sum. Rode the MTR, ferry, bus and tram.

Hong Kong Airlines and airport express train to central.

Relaxing in the capsule "loom" with a cuppa tea. £25 a night.

    Some Dim Sum

    Headed to the ferry

the view from the other side

bit of shopping in tsim sha tsui

    Avenue of Stars

    noodles for dinner

    duck for desert

Ferry back over to Wan Chai

    Few beers watching WC

    cocktails watching WC

took the number 15 bus to Victoria peak only cost a quid

I battled through the Chinese hordes to get a view

    more to come

    Very nice.

Reminds me of Sydney, just a bit more congested, building wise.

Read that HSBC bought that empty plot of land in front of it, so that it will never be built on, and thus ruin their feng shui thing of being open to the harbour.

    For me also.

My first time there was in 1979 and based upon my memory of the place, and the pictures Punty has provided, the place has been cleaned up a lot.

Always was an experience landing at the old airport and I loved the markets in Kowloon.

    Great thread also mate.

There could be a problem with Natasha were he to supply, being as this is purely a solo cultural trip.

Great pics man, always looks great at night. In the daytime it seems grey and unforgiving. And you thought council estate tower blocks were high......

Have you been called gong tau lo or gweilo yet?

Good to get there fast before the filthy mainlanders communise the place. Hoped you didn't bed down on Nathan Rd or around Tsim Tsa Tsui. I was visiting a guy called Bey Logan who suggested it, probably for a good laugh.

Very intimidating place and it takes a few hours to get a grip and calm down. The Brits had not long handed it back to the chinks, money still had QE2's head on.
Didn't help being in a cupboard in Chungking Mansions on the 12th floor.

    Nice pics as always Punty.

Just shows Hong Kong can be done on a budget, if you dont mind a bit of turbulence, stay away from the bars and girls of Wanchai and can sleep in the equivalent of a ChittyChangChang partitioned 12 bedroomed flat.

BTW watching the footy in a public bar whilst drinking cocktails.

Pics are good. only been to Hongers once (airport many times) and whilst I enjoyed it (it was a work jolly), wasn't sure if it was a bit meh. guess I need to go back. food and poon was top draw however.
Macau was a bit shit though

    Airport train

Airport pics.. wow what a nice experience.. very quick to check In.. the passport stuff is dealt with those self-scanners.. very fast security and no queuing.

    HK craft Beer

Fantastic place... 3 days are enough to see the main sights and get a feel of the place. After that things because a little "meh"...

Being alone and living in a 2 X 1 plastic coffin didn't help either
