^ Thanks bro! really excited to get it... I know it's not a Ferrari or anything to write home about... but for humble me, it's exciting... V6 220HP 6 speed.

Think of it like a rear wheel drive Camry with a 6 cylinder engine, slightly more compact... so yeah.. nothing like a Camry lol...

Sadly the only thing Thailand will ever better the standard of in Japan is cheap whores. Even the mini marts are better in Japan and eating out is a far better experience, you actually get what you ordered and it comes at the same time and it's cheaper than London.

^ 555... true dat... but I don't wana bash good 'ol Thailand...

It's a different experience... can't compare the two...

For me, I think (hope) it was the right move... not trying to convince you guys that Japan is better... I never thought I would end up here... still don't speak the lingo, haven't opened my main business yet... this preamble is just the easy part..

I've only just begun... Not kidding myself, won't be a cake walk... but I'm determined to succeed (or die trying!) 555...

    Gambatte!!

Yup, Fukuoka is awesome.. my favorite place in the universe.. a Goldilocks zone (not too big, not too small) just right.. one of (if not the) most desirable places to live in Japan (according to domestic Japanese)... sister city of Auckland... god knows why, shares no resemblance...

    That's a fuk of a nice car for 6 K dickster.

I rebuild the Motor in my old Camry in Perth this year and that was 4 K. I only use it for 8 weeks of the year on my trips back the rest of the time it sits parked up. Well worth it though for pulling my Van.

You enjoy Dophin eater land, looks like ya kicked a winner.

Going Kyoto next time and the Mrs can fuk off on her own to the discount chemists and bag shops. Japan even has a better duty free system for tourists, they give it you off in the shop, and no claiming it back at the airport as in daft land, how many want to bother with that on the way home?

Yep. I believe this policy still stands for Thai folk.
That is, until they find a way to piss the Japanese off.

Thai-Jap free visa policy is a win-win for both.

Was in a big camera shop in Toyko and they made an announcement in Thai as well as Japanese and English, sister in law goes 3 times a year. The no visa is great, pain in the arse getting them even for NZ. Singapore and HK do not need visas either, they like go 'chopping' there as well

Wow Dick, I never realised Japan was so cheap.
At those prices you could probably support a second wife.

Any thoughts on importing a mia noi?

^ 555... got my eyes on you mate... but you'd need a sex change, boob job first...

Cars are cheap.. (of course) but Shaken (WOF) every 2 year car inspections are expensive, around $800 - $1,000

Then there is weight tax, parking, etc.. petrol is cheaper than NZ... so all in all, vehicle costs are probably similar.

    Will calculate later.

    nice thread
i was going to say its the Shaken that kills you and having to renew so often
my cousin ended up shipping his harrier back from tokyp to the Uk and giving it to his mum because it was the most cost effective thing to do
also my mates bird paid more for her parking space in tokyo (70,000 yen pcm) than he did for his flat in nagoya

agree eating out is much better in japan, more of a quality thing
    we won it at wemberlee
we on it in gay paree...

Road license in Perth has shot up to near on 700 buks per year and 3rd party costs me 250 + so near on 1 K just to have it sitting at my gaffer.

Lucky I don't live in Tokyo... wouldn't want to either...

My parking spot comes with my house (actually, double car park).

I think the cheap price of the vehicle, is negated by all the taxes, Shaken, etc...
but still worth the price of freedom IMO..

Fuck Kei cars (mini under 6,00 cc cars) rented one to look at vehicles.. I'd rather walk, or use a push bike... horrible things. False economy too, as you have to rev the shit out of 'em to go anywhere, so they consume more gas...

Mark X is as big as I'd want though... narrow sois (roads)... everyone parks arse in first, which is cool/different than home.. who said Japs are bad drivers, should see how they park dead straight/middle of their line... better than me...(well, parking anyway)...

I rented a Nissan Note? it was high season rates (long weekend, some event in Fukuoka) was expensive around $70 *inc insurance...

    Normal rate around $40 - $50.

Don't get Kei car... yeah, just an eco-car like the Jazz, or Yaris.. pay a bit more.. but it's sooo worth it.

*While I was typing, got my house approved (renting first) will buy later.. but rent in itself is not easy...
they have to 'investigate you' make sure you have the ability to pay the rent, etc..
Wasn't easy finding a place suitable for my tutoring biz... landlords won't have a bar of an Ekaiwa/school or any other type
of biz opening in their house.. but where there is a will, there is a way... that will deserve it's own thread and will
be very useful for you guys if you intend to rent a gaff here...
