In Taoyuan, I met up with my friend again. We had lunch at a DIY place, as my friend called it. You choose whatever food from the selection and put it on your plate, then the cashier will quote a price for your meal.

lunch at that DIY place + rice in a separate bowl

After lunch, my friend asked me where I wanted to go. I said that I didn't want to do much sightseeing since I was already tired of travelling by then. I also felt a bit under the weather the last couple of days, so I didn't want to do anything stressful. So we went to a nearby park and chilled. As it was a weekday, it wasn't overrun with people, which was great.

So we just stayed there until it was time to go to the airport for my flight. I'll leave this as a last pic - the sign says something about Chiang Kai Shek, whom this park was named after or dedicated to, according to my friend.

Cheers and hope you enjoyed the show! Thanks for the luv & greens - I saw that I have more yellow spots. Haha!

Nice one Katie. I live in Taiwan a decade ago and saw large parts, but not all of the island.

Did you make it to Kenting, and Kenting National Park? Beautiful down there in the south.

Also, the east coast is awesome, mountains sweeping straight into the ocean.

I'm thinking about a move back there..

(May I ask what line of work you're in that you can get out the office a few times a year?)

Thanx for the sweet-talkers, including snakey. Made me smile. Haha!

@geezy, no I didn't go to Kenting, there wasn't time. Prior to my trip, I had planned which cities to visit and pre-booked all my accoms, and Kenting wasn't in the itinerary. Maybe next time. Re: my work, you may ask but I won't tell. If I told you, I'd have to ask my friend Davis to shoot you.

Nice pics. Interesting thread. I only ever visited Taipei but always was interested in going down the east coast.

Just saw that there were recent replies to the thread. I thought it was dead. 55

@justme - the eastern coast of Taiwan is less developed and much more scenic - moubtains, ocean, etc. I saw pics/blogs of Kenting Nat'l Park after my trip, it's at the southern tip - it looked really nice. Maybe next time... sigh..

@luigi - I'm afraid I'll have to say "No" to your "proposal". Your luvlife is too complicated as it is. Lol.

@Norton - nah, I like to keep my secrets private. Besides, I don't want to bother Davis now. He's mourning the loss of his myna (bird).

I thought this thread was long dead. Seems someone breathed life into it. Lol.

I also thought all pics are gone due to the Photobucket purge of last year, but I can still see some pics on pages 2-3 (post 41 onwards). I thought those pics had disappeared since they were hosted on PB.

Just to recap (in case anyone is interested), I went to these cities in Taiwan: Taipei, Hualien, Taitung, Kaohsiung, Tainan and Taoyuan. I used public transport all throughout (trains, MRT, buses). Hualien experienced a mag. 6+ earthquake earlier this year.
