Would love to make a trip back some day. I speak passable Japanese and know the culture and customs pretty well. The places you show in your pics are the kind of places I used to go to as well. Unfortunately back in the days I lived there I was using cheap or disposable cameras and the scans of the pics aren't great.
Another place I recommend if you ever want to get a sort of cross between Thailand and Japan type of vibe is Amami Oshima. Take the ferry from Kagoshima. Most people go right past it to Okinawa.
Heard you guys talk about Japan make me want to see pics...how is nice...can someone post it..thanks...
^ Thanks for the advice, Justme...
Not sure, grunt mate... I'm a newbie, Justme would know much more, but I am sure there are quite a few, Fukuoka total population is 4.5 million (correct me if I'm wrong) that includes surrounding prefectures...Originally Posted by Immigrunt
Never been to Naha bro... We are moving to Fukuoka very soon, my Japanese is coming along, but still at a very basic level.
Where you at Justme? are you still living in Japan bro?
Edit: sorry, I'm a bit sleepy.. you did say you used to live there... hope to catch up with you guys one day in Fukuoka... drink some Asahi super dry, catch a baseball game at the superdome.. TD boys night out! woop woop!
I was in Naha for three days. Unfortunately it was the coldest weather anybody alive could ever remember and rainy. This led to a 3 day drinking binge and hanging out at different clubs with Japanese people.
The thing I do remember is a had a great little room with a balcony for dirt cheap. I think it was like 3,500 to 4,000 yen. The drinks were also really reasonable. Wish I could tell you more than that but I didn't go around the island due to the weather. It is what it is.
I have a place in Laos and am based out of Bangkok right now. I am a bit tired of SE Asia and will likely return to the USA soon. I left Japan a long time ago. Maybe in 2003 or so. I studied Japanese there and you get a two year visa to do that. When that visa runs out you have to either find something else to study or go to work.
So I left Japan although I really loved it there. Sure I could have found a way to stay on but not being married could see the writing on the wall and came over here. Because visas were dead easy. lol I prefer Kirin ichiban.
Give me a link ...
Is Dill yanking my chain? is that a gay bar or something? (he's always on my case lol).Originally Posted by Dillinger
Justme, USA is a great place too, I'd love to visit one day... do a road trip around the country... Great thing about Japan, is it's a good base to travel to other destinations... not like NZ, stuck away in the bottom of the globe..
I still love Laos too... been there many times, great, friendly people... even the Farang seemed chilled out.. sabai sabai... (Beer Lao is fantastic)...
mods have been busy
Damn ...just checked and Fukuoka is nearly 1100 kilometers south of where I'm at in Yokosuka.
ROAD TRIP BRO!!
