    Photothread: day trip to Seoul...

...contrary to popular belief, I was not in Malaysia last weekend attending the funeral of a close relative. I took a day trip to Seoul.

(All these pictures are quick snaps with my G3 phone, sorry, no Bobcock here!)

KTX to Seoul cost $26 and took 50 minutes.

The KTX connects with the underground, but it's quite confusing.

I went three stops to 'the largest guitar mall in the world', and walked around for a couple of hours, but couldn't find any left-handed guitars at all! Lots of nice Gibsons though.

    Cycling should be banned!!!

^ sorry for the delay! It's not my kidd!

Back on the underground for one stop to meet me mate for lunch. We went to a vegan place, yes, I did say vegan, and no he's not gay! It's just a really nice place; traditional Korean Buddhist restaurant. The cost was $33 each for a 9 course meal, and the food was great, but the environment and service were really nice. Here are shots, going through the meal.

Looking good so far.. and yet I am worried that this will be a thread devoid of hot cute korean birds.

Then, a 15 minute walk to the Grand Palace.

It was a lovely day, about 24 degrees. The cost to enter was about $3 and I looked around the buildings and temples for an hour or so, taking a few snaps.

There were lots of tours of Chinese, but it's a big place, so careful avoidance of said groups saved stress...

The buildings have been rebuilt several times due to the Japanese destroying the originals, so the place doesn't feel 'historic'. I suppose it has a Chinese feel, not spectacular, but interesting.

What was nice were the gardens and the hills/mountains behind.

& some foreign/Korean ladies wore hamboks; traditional Korean dresses.

Last picture was of a famous Korean king, but I'll leave you to read which one...

Me and me mate, now it was around 5ish, decided to look for a bar, and with the help of Google 'micro-breweries', we found an amazing bar, but I didn't take any pictures, sorry - just the widest range of Belgian beers that I've seen at any bar, anywhere, ever! &, yes, we had loads, spent about $50 each on beer then I got the KTX home - arrived back about 11pm, went to my favourite local bar and got absolutely wasted. Do not know what happened to Sunday???

Yes. Sorry. In order of recompense let me offer some of my personal favourites:

Not the best photothread ever, sorry - was just a few snaps on a last minute day trip.

I'm off to Vladivostok in about 6 weeks for a long weekend, so I'll try to do better there!

Well that saved me 60 euro down the local knocking shop. Thanks for that.

Hmmmm. Undated photos and pics of scantily clad lasses to divert the masses.

Nope. You attempt at a diversion is an obvious attempt to throw off the trail of your recent Malaysia trips.

Sorry for your loss by the way.
