Cheap flight from either Osaka to Bangkok or Tokyo Bangkok

I've done a bit of googling , but I can only do so much while I'm at work without feeling like a slack kunt or the IT department logging my usage to my manager, I can get from Vientiane to Seoul with Lao airlines and even with 1way the price is good, what I want to do is go down the Korean Coast and take the hydrofoil to Fukuoka in Japan then with the jap rail pass stop at a few interesting places on the way to Tokyo. I want to fly out of Tokyo to Bangkok instead of back tracking to Seoul, so far it seems fucking expensive , probably ok by myself but I will have the wife and oldest boy with me so whatever I do it's 3fairs (the 7 day jap rail pass will cost $275 each for me and d wife and about half for the boy, I'm ok with that but does anyone know of a reasonably cheap and preferably direct flight from either Tokyo to Bangkok or from Osaka, I can sort out the bkk Vientiane leg later, my boss approved the annual leave in the system a few days ago I'm taking a month off starting in June , that's wet season anyway, wet season gives me the shits , any ideas ?

i had thought of a stopover in either beijing or shanghai, or maybe taiwan, that might be good to break up the trip a bit, not into long flights these days , still havent made up my mind yet

If you are going to go via China you might want to look up Juneyao Airlines and CSSS (China Spring airlines) both fly out of Shanghai, ((PVG) and they also fly to Beijing/Harbin Sanya etc.) both are quite cheap less than 50% of Thai Airways - around 3K RMB two way - they are "no frills" i.e. there is no TV or any entertainment, the seating is tight but the food is OK, non stop to Chiang Mai, but I think they then go onto BKK. If you are lucky (I was 3 times) they will be way less than full. Juneyao had about 25 people on this Wednesdays evening flight to Chiang Mai....you can spread out anywhere! (Sorry, being a Newbie - I cannot post any links)

That's some good advice, I had never heard of those options before, I like the sanya (Hainan Island alternative)' there's a ton of options out there , I'm travelling with the wife and oldest boy so whatever I do or pay I have to times it by 3 , I'm the cash cow in this family. Some googling this afternoon turned up a few results, told the wife it's either Korea or Japan , not both, to damn expensive, unless I can figure out otherwise

The correct thing to say. One way flights out of Japan are expensive. Sure you can go through stop or two to save a bit. But the main factor is times 3.

I have twins..... Going to America in summer.... Oh boy.

Southern China Air is even a better bargain [as a rule].......and doesn't require going hundreds of kms out of your way [Beijing] - more logistically prudent to go through Shanghai...

Correct RS , would definitely be better to fly into shanghai, rather than Beijing, haven't been to either of those places either so a night or 2 to break up the trip wouldn't be bad, as long as it's not over the top expensive, (got to factor in 3 Chinese visas though) 5 or 6 hours flights are my threshold these days, fuk knows how people can do the long ones to Europe or the states, Im not going until the start of June so still abit of time to nut it out, would still like to hear what other members come up with , maybe evilbazza will snap out of his post songkran fugue and come up with a few suggestions on where not to take the family to get irradiated. On ya baz, thanks in advance,

Spring Airlines from IBR - PDG for about $140; after your stopover Juneyao Airlines for about $230 to CNX or BKK. Might be cheaper without the stopover.

After a shitload more googling I've finally made a decision and booked the tickets for start of June,
The plan is ...Vientiane to Seoul, 2 nights i n Seoul ,then take a bullet train to busan 2 nights in busan then take the ferry to fukuoka(3 hours) more bullet trains to tokyo stopping of in Hiroshima, Kyoto, Kobe, Osaka , backtrack a bit to Osaka then fly back to Seoul with some outfit called peach air, very cheap , I gave up the idea of flying out of Tokyo, just to expensive, tomorrow I will get our japan 7 day rail pass online, this seemed expensive at $275 per person ( I need 2 and one for the boy) looks like it saves you a lot, but you can't fuck around, it forces you to get on the train and go places. And at 300km it doesn't take long to get where your going, looking forward to it now

Thanks for d advise folks, and thanks for the amusement baz. I will wear my tinfoilhat

See - you can do it yourself with my friend Google.

You just need to up your paygrade at that shithole mine your at so the IT people don't micro-manage your i/net usage.

And I thought 12 years based in Kalgoorlie was a sentence of hard labour! 555!

Yep,Google was certainly my friend baz, the info is all there, it's a done deal tickets are booked for June, pityi can't up my pay grade though, IT department have finally figured out the Lao employees spend about 6 hours out of 12 watching videos on Facebook, not really productive that is it? They still want a 2 hour lunch break as we'll , as per cultural norms hard to get the farmer to be miner, government insists on 80& locals , it might take a while. Yes 12 years in kalgoorlie is a long time,I have fond memories , especially of the pubs and the stables, hope you bought some land 12 years ago? They tell me fucking expensive now

Yes I did - bought two houses there and one in Perth and a good result all round.
Enabled my retirement and fresh start in LOS with minimal baggage.
    Not so daft eh 555!

    Have a good trip.

I have no desire whatsoever to visit Japan - having an Uncle in Changi prison and then the Railway of Death will do that.

    Lest We Forget.

Wish I had of bought dirt in kal back in the day, missed the boat there, later on while working for hamersley iron I was offered residential status in either karatha or dampier that would of been a money spinner , knocked it back, just got sick of working in bum fuck nowhere, prefer d jungle, sorry to hear about your uncle, (especially on Anzac Day) I've wanted to visit japan For years now, I've just turned 50 so can't take the war personally. Don't know about the beer yet but the eye candy looks alright, I,ll probably bung up a thread when I. Get back , got 15 days in Korea and japan.
