    N. Thailand through a REBEL (dSLR)

I got my early birthday present from my kind father, a Canon REBEL EOS 450d. It's a beautiful camera!

So far I have 2 lenses for it. A 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens & 50mm f/1.8. The 18-55mm is rather slow, but the 50mm is speedy as hell!

A lot of these pictures were cropped & color corrected in Photoshop. Digital pictures don't hold a match to film, but I can't deny the beauty & convenience of them.

Here's a few photos taken today/tonight around town (Chiang Mai).

^ this is the 1st picture I took with it.

^ the UV filter I have on my 50mm lens lets off a cool lens flare, notice the green speckles.

My fastest lens is the 18 - 70 mm f/3.5 frustrating for night shots and those time you want a shallow depth of field. if your un across a minolta AF or A mount lens in that range let me know willya?

I have some Minolta lenses for a x700, i don't know if they would serve your purpose or not. check out if the mounting will suit and i will hunt them out of the attic.

yeah, I'll keep my eye out for that.

The bad thing about the 50mm lens, is that the dSLR I have isn't a full framed one, so when you do the 1.6 conversion it becomes an 80mm lens. So basically I have to be pretty far from the subject to get a far shot.

I have my eye on getting this beauty:

she's 20mm f/2.8, which would be a 32mm on my camera, which is wide enough.

This is all well and good Bustak, but we all know you are good at this photography lark.

How about showing us your skills at wood carving or cornish pasty making for a change?

the sky got very orange in Chiang Mai during sundown:

I was on my computer around 5:30pm yesterday, & I noticed my bathroom was orange, I looked out my front door & the house in front of me was orange too, so I grabbed my camera & got the above shot.

    Very beautiful.

Nice stuff. I am after a Digital SLR myself. I've narrowed it down to three models; the Nikon D60, Canon 1000D or the 450D you are using.

Nikon & Canon, that's up to you. I dig Canon.

But between the Canon 450 & 1000, get the 450. They're pretty much the same camera, except the 450 has 2 more focal points, 2 more mega pixels, spot metering & the price is pretty much the same.

I've been looking at Pentax recently, looking for something different. Saying that i'll not be buying for sometime so it's probably not worth pipe dreaming just now.

I feel like I've run out of ideas at the moment, haven't taken a pic for over two weeks.

how do you take pictures of people? do you ask their permission first?

personally if i am taking pics in Singapore I have to dress up like a tourist first or else someone would probably smash up my camera for me.

there's always something interesting going on, you don't need to create them, you just have to witness them & if you'd like, point a camera & capture them.

Just take a bunch of pictures & there'll be at least 1 or 2 that are somewhat interesting.

Me too, I don't like posed shots. Asking for permission just loses the spontaneity of the moment.

Give me a telephoto lens and a neighbour who doesnt close her curtains and I find you get much better shots.

More great pics, Bustak. How much photoshopping do you actually do? You've managed to get some great colours there, i'm very impressed.

nice pics bustak. really like the subjects and framing of your shots. just the colours out of the DSLR are nothing compared to film ones. would really love to see these pics if they were captured on lucky film...
