    The dog pic is awesome.

    were you a photography student?

There is something special about so many of your pics that I feel make mine look turgid.

No, I was a film student.

For the past 20 years I've had a either a video or still camera in my hand.

    This is me from 1990*:

So I've always had some weird need to capture a moment.

^ Bustak I am sorry but I find your choice of apparel absolutely offensive. Don't you know the Red Sox are a much better team?

^ for the past 6 years I've been wearing a Red Sox hat.

Here's from a few months ago, it's turned backwards, but I swear it's a Boston cap

To a certain section of North London Police the angular orientation of the peaks on those hats is referred to the I.Q indicator in that the further towards the back it points = the lower the I Q !

mobs00 is correct, the brim of the hat got in the way of the camera. So I had to turn it backwards.*

personally if i am taking pics in Singapore I have to dress up like a tourist first or else someone would probably smash up my camera for me.

I never had that problem, but then I was not taking pictures from behind on an escalator

    Bustak.

One of my friends who is staying with me at the moment is a very well known photographer. His credits include being the first underwater photographer to win the Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the first photographer to win Natures Best both as an underwater and topsides photographer. He was won Oceanz in NZ and got both the gold and silver statues from Antibes Festival Mondial de l'Image Sous Marine.

I showed him some of my pics and introduced him to the Teak Door photo competition on the condition he doesn't enter next year.

I showed him your Chiang Mai Lomo thread and this thread. Your photos received a couple of Wow's from him and he said he really liked your spontaneity. He described your trademark as exceptional use of selective focus and asked if you used a 'lens baby'. I told him I didn't think you did, and he thought that even more impressive.

He also judged the Teak Door Photo Competition.

he gave first to Thetyim and second to jasonbalmer. He described jasonbalmers pic as floorless composition, with mood and atmosphere. But he did say he actually preferred Thetyims.

He actually came and did a talk to our company photo club which was incredible, we've never really talked photography in depth, it was amazing to hear how he works and see some of his images outside of the competition winners. He let me keep them and said it was OK to post some if anyone is interested.

Bobcock, I've seen some of those pictures before & found them amazing. You're lucky to meet someone w/ so much talent.

No, I never used the lens baby, actually I never heard of it! I did a google & am interested! So my next photo thread will be:
    N. Thailand through a lens baby

some pictures I took earlier today.

Here's an old monk at Wat Suan Dok:

    here's his feet:

here's my 1st 2 attempts at shooting HDR* images:

it turned out so-so, I think I need a more dramatic sky to get the crazy results I've seen other people get.

Not really big on landscape images, so I'll only play around with this a little bit.

I heard you can do this w/ a RAW image, so I could do that w/ a portrait, so that'd be something I'd be more interested in.

I received a 28mm (44mm when multiplied by 1.6) lens today. It's fast as hell at f1.8, & USM! I'm going to get pulled over by the Chiang Mai Police for speeding! Here's an image I took during dinner:

Actually when I met him he didn't even own a camera.

We dived together and both dreamed of such things.

I lost the camera I obtained on my first ever dive with it.

He won The Wildlife Photographer of the Year just 3 years after taking up underwater photography. He hasa dedication unlike anyone I have ever met, he'll dive the same place 3 times a day for weeks just to get a single shot he has in his head.
