    Airsoft in Chiang Mai ....................

A couple of nights ago I played AIRSOFT with some friends:
Airsoft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Basically it's similar to paint ball, except you use a high powered BB gun.

We played @ Tarzan Hut near the Lana Golf Course on the Superhighway in Chiang Mai.

It cost 80 baht per person, not sure how much it costs to rent guns & BBs, my friends supplied me w/ all that stuff. I'm pretty sure you have to go there w/ people to play with, you can't just show up & join some strangers, I could be wrong. The people I was with knew everyone who was playing.

This is an American Bad Ass for sure:

Here's the field we played on:

I was told it was a pretty small field by airsoft standards. Which I can believe, because it was too small to run a long distance, you had to crawl around on your knees & stomach to get from point a-b. My legs are still tired!

The 1st game (which was my 1st time ever playing airsoft) I got killed in the 1st 2 minutes! I guess I was standing up too straight! After 4 more games I got the hang of it. I think I even got a kill! Not positive, there was a lot of shooting going on, so it's hard to tell.

We played 2 types of games, one was last man standing & the other was return the radio, which is someone running around w/ a book bag (radio) on their back & they need to return it to a certain place without getting shot.

You should make sure your skin is covered up, in one gun fight my sleeves were too high, & I got shot in the bare arm:

It stung @ 1st, then a couple of minutes later it was OK. I still have a cool welt!

Here's the team I was on, we were YELLOW:

The people I was with might not want to be associated w/ a geek like me, so I hide their identities!

We played from 9:30pm-1:00am, the place closes @ midnight, but they allowed the extra time. I got home around 1:30, & I was so pumped up I fell asleep around 4-4:30am! I had to wake up the next day for work around 8:30am, so that was a bit of a struggle!

    Over-all I had a BLAST!

If you want to run around like a monkey shooting BBs @ the opposite team, I suggest Tarzan Hut!

I played paint ball one time in Sydney. I basically got assassinated from behind, at close quarters.

The paint ball managed to get in between my mask and my face, and left one hell of a welt on my upper cheek- bejeez it stung, and I had a nice ugly bluddy bruise on my face for the next week or so. Great fun though.

I was involved in the first paint ball guns being moved to the UK, does that make me famous at that time they were classed as firearms, we had to supposedly modify them to release them as airguns, obviously downgrading them to air gun levels they wouldn't fire the paint pellets, they were like 50 and 68 caliber, still who cares, we just sold them on as is

Always difficult to separate boys from their toys.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

I have a Great Grandma Moore, so I think that might explain my ginger leanings.

Door Gunner: Git some! Git some! Git some, yeah, yeah, yeah! Anyone that runs, is a VC. Anyone that stands still, is a well-disciplined VC! You guys oughta do a story about me sometime!
Private Joker: Why should we do a story about you?
Door Gunner: 'Cuz I'm so fuckin' good! I done got me 157 dead gooks killed. Plus 50 water buffalo too! Them's all confirmed!
Private Joker: Any women or children?
    Door Gunner: Sometimes!
Private Joker: How can you shoot women or children?
Door Gunner: Easy! Ya just don't lead 'em so much! Ain't war hell?

Looks like fun, but those gun look disconcertingly real. And muzzle velocities of 500fps someone is going to get stung!

Years ago I played paintball a bunch in New Mexico. we'd have tournaments against other states. In paintball you have to get a bit closer to your target to make sure the the balls broke. I quit the sport when fully automatic guns started to hit the market, much of the fun was in the stealth/hunting tactics required using pump action guns.
I'm not sure about this airball where you have the "honor system" to report a hit.
A hit in paintball was pretty unambiguous and very satisfying. Especially when you got them in the back of the head from close range....

Yeah and they have colors to indentify the shooter too. I've never gotten to play but always wanted to. I used to be pretty good at those type of war games in my youth..

    Cover up - bollocks

Used to play Airsoft with the biker gang in shorts and t-shirts. It's the mans way to play it. Nothing like the sting of a plastic pellet.

Used to end up looking like I had been ravaged by mozzies after a good game

A colleague at work is addicted to it and keeps asking me to join him in a game, often proudly displaying his 'bullet wounds'. Once he took to me to his car and opened up the boot - inside was a freakin' armoury (like Billy's - Judge Reinhold - in Beverly Hills Cops). He's spent nearly a 100k on his toy guns. That's one expensive game of Japs and Commandos.

Is anyone currently playing in ChiangMai. Shooting trees and the neighbor's house is getting boring.
