Big raining hard for hours now. Yard back to a swamp again. Drained pool 3 times today so I imagine 6 to 8 inches of rain since morning.

...Forest water flows overflowing the Mae Tam Reservoir. Serm Sai Subdistrict Serm Ngam District, Lampang Province flooded into the horticultural fields. Village houses, including roads and bridges in the village until now can't travel.

Back to piddling down again now after 2 hours of sunshine.

Went out for a wee skiz.

Lines of cars parked along the bridges.

    Flooding the banks areas.

Didn't fancy lunch at The Terrace anyway.

Down to the bank area, the official teams are doing a good job pumping thus far.

Still a good bit to go before us Level Fivers will be affected.

Not questioning the quality of local enginering but I'll not be parking on any bridges inches above a river in exceptional flood.

BKK getting hit hard now. Wife just got home from Silom said it was really pouring the whole way home to Don Muang. I came from north in Prathum Thani, it was pouring the whole way home as well. Very loud in the house now as it continues to come down. My front yard is totally underwater, but the house is much higher.

West of Udon pissed down daily for the past week, just when we thought the rains had finished - so we planted veggies! Reservoirs all full here and in KK, ground still full of water, will take weeks to drain, glad I live on a hill, looks like another storm coming this way now?...

    Whatshername got lucky.

About 30 years ago she purchased the place (just out of college) where we spend most of our time while in Thailand. She had a 15-year mortgage. It has never flooded in this neighborhood.

Today was nice. This evening even better. Temperature outside is pleasant.

    Meanwhile in Chanathaburi
Having today declared rain season over, made a start on tidying the garden, mixed/applied two litres of weed spray to create a 3m wide no-man's-land between us and our 'jungle', all good until about 6.45pm.
Just experienced the best/worst storm of our 11 years here, pissing down and strong wind gusts, enough to drive water the length of the garage, another first.
We can't flood here, but guessing parts of town will, simply too much water for the drainage stsyems.
If this is heading up the coast- look out Chonburi/Pattaya

There's only one place it's going.

Might want to move that new countertop oven upstairs from the new kitchen AO.

    Flooding everywhere today-9d9018eb-c3ae-4d7b-8f33-a03954041482-jpeg

Water from the overflowing Ping River breached flood walls this afternoon (Monday), causing widespread inundation of the Muang district of Chiang Mai, including in the economic zone.

The water level in the Ping River, measured at the Nawarat Bridge, had risen to 4.65 metres at 3pm today, which is above the 3.70 metre critical level, due mainly to the arrival of runoffs from the Mae Tang river basin.

Provincial officials have warned that the flood situation may get worse, as more runoff is expected from Chiang Dao district and the Mae Tang river basin tomorrow.

Many car owners living in low-lying areas have started parking their cars on the roads, to protect them from becoming waterlogged if left at home.

Various agencies, including the military, have mobilised manpower and equipment to provide help as requested.

But this year is like any other year save 2011. The run off water is going down rivers toward the sea. Not being diverted away from the Chao Phyra. So all riverside communities are flooded. This is nature. No flooding other than streets in Don Muang this year. Translate Don Muang to English and you see what an anomaly 2011 was. The reason the airport was built there.

T\IIRC the 2011 flood was down to all the excess water that made its way slowly south to and through Bangkok and on to the sea.

That was when that genius came up with the idea of lining all the boats across the river and using the propellors to just whoosh the water away

Also the year they closed off all the drains to the river. To "Save the financial district". The water side communities were dry that should naturally be flooded. The water came down the freaking highway (Wipawidee Rangsit). Flooded all the industrial estates on the way.
