just did brekky at khao soi luang prakad (khao soi netflix) for tHB 60 per head
    and
dinner at The Duke's by the river for about 2.5k

may not be the best but certainly better than anything ive had in the same or higher price bracket in bangers recently

the khao soi was perfect (but very busy) and the tex-mex was good at Dukes

recommendations for tomorrow are very welcome
    we won it at wemberlee
we on it in gay paree...

Yes, a resounding win for those that wish to avoid poncey restaurants full of pretentious bores.

I'm glad you double checked, I was worried that it might have been a one off thing.

Greek place in Big Bad Bangers.

Speaking of which, don't suppose there's similar in CM for when I pop in from Cebu?

More in Hazza's kinda budget, than Icy's.

Cheers for reminding me. Not been there in over a year.

Best go and stalk their FB and see if they still do the Sunday buffet.

Finally managed a few nights in Chiang Mai. Basically just needed a rest away from it all. Quite hotel with pool. Stones throw from Thapae gate. Two nights went to a nearby small Italian restaurant that we like within walking distance. Tow other nights were a bit more adventurous.

    First up was Mare:

Discover Culinary Delights at Mare | Premium Seafood Restaurant | In the Heart of Chiangmai Thailand

Took a bit of finding, as its inside a shopping Center, ground floor.

We started with two dishes, fresh imported oysters and Hokkaido scallop sashimi:

Next was a Butternut squash soup with seared Hokkaido scallop:

    Then a paella:

And we split a single dessert:

Overall 9/10. The paella was a bit wet to my liking, and my companion felt the prawns were overcooked. The fresh seafood was perfection, the soup great and the dessert was amazing. Well worth a visit.

    The next stop was Oxygen:

Oxygen Dining Room Chiang Mai | Chiang Mai

After much perusal of the menu (they do have a small a la carte menu as well):

We went for the degustation menu.

The first course was an interesting amuse bouche, but that got eaten before I remembered I was going to take photos, so onward to the menu:

    Scallop Ceviche:

    Lychee and basil granita:

For main I had the beef:

    My companion had the duck:

    Lastly a dessert:

Superb experience. You could have each dish matched with a wine, but my alcohol intake is low at the moment, so sadly gave that a miss. The only slight misfire was the mains to be honest. Mine was overly salty to my taste, and the duck ended up being a bit sweet.

All of the other dishes were gob smackingly good. Definitely will visit again if I get the chance, and worth every satang.

No, there's probably nowhere here in my city, much less the entirety of the PI that could ever match a CM restaurant like that. You're so lucky you live in Thailand and have such eateries readily available. Filipino chef's really don't know anything about how hi-so dining should work.
