Recommendation for Chiang Mai area

Looking to buy a holiday home up in CM area. Want it in the sticks but no more than an hour from CM proper.

Anyone up there with good knowledge of the area have any good ideas?

Yeah I was going to say the same thing. With the new road leading past Sankampeng, Mae On and where Jonny Foreigner is building in Ban Pong you can be quite nicely out of town but still less than 45 minutes from the airport / town.

About 45 mins from CM town.

The road's getting busier every month though.

Some cracking views in that area - as you'll know if you've looked at jonny's excellent thread.

Lampang is my choice. As a romantic attraction they have horse-drawn carriages too.

Actually got a message on Line tonight from the management. Dodgy tenant isn't paying the electricity bill and the power's about to be cut off.
