‘Foreign Tourists’ Must Pay 40 Baht to Visit Wat Chedi Luang

Wat Chedi Luang has announced that it will begin charging ‘foreign tourists’ 40 baht entry to cover the costs of care and repair of the temple, which sees hundreds of visitors every week.

The decision was made aware to the public by three billboards, in Thai, English and Chinese, that were erected outside the temple last week.

The charge will begin on July 1st.

Chiang Mai tourist entrepreneurs believe the charge will have no affect on tourism to the temple.

^ wat Chedi Luang is quite nice, plus you get to go into the little museum and check my English... We had some students who made the museum a few years back, had a nice time in Chiang Mai at the university's expense; it's only right you tourist bastards should pay to help the wat recoup the funds...
    Cycling should be banned!!!

Same goes for all farangs in national parks etc now, even if you have a driving licence or a business visa. You pay farang price. My Luk Rung kids were questioned on their nationality last time we went to a National Park. The fukcing wankers.

Yet, such policies [here and there] were well in place long before the current ruling Junta.

It's worth it, especially if there's the possibility to see some coyote dancing, pet a tiger or two, yes.

That's a japanese invention, a vending machine that dispenses worn knickers. ( I watched a documentary on this, the women supplying the worn knickers)
They should install one at the Temple

when youve seen one of these baking hot gaffs and the clueless numpties that inhabit them youve seen em all.

the only site worth paying to enter in thailand in my opinion is the ban chiang archaeological site.

unesco listed, professionally operated with intelligent well informed staff and easily accessible and understandable historical and archaeological information available, the place is , unusually for thai historical sites, a joy to visit.
