‘Foreign Tourists’ Must Pay 40 Baht to Visit Wat Chedi Luang

Wat Chedi Luang has announced that it will begin charging ‘foreign tourists’ 40 baht entry to cover the costs of care and repair of the temple, which sees hundreds of visitors every week.

The decision was made aware to the public by three billboards, in Thai, English and Chinese, that were erected outside the temple last week.

The charge will begin on July 1st.

Chiang Mai tourist entrepreneurs believe the charge will have no affect on tourism to the temple.

We had some students who made the museum a few years back, had a nice time in Chiang Mai at the university's expense; it's only right you tourist bastards should pay to help the wat recoup the funds...

the only site worth paying to enter in thailand in my opinion is the ban chiang archaeological site.

unesco listed, professionally operated with intelligent well informed staff and easily accessible and understandable historical and archaeological information available, the place is , unusually for thai historical sites, a joy to visit.

The National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department has announced that as of 1st February 2015, the entrance fees for 31 national parks in Thailand have been raised. The prices below are for children/adults. Please note there is a dual price system at all parks in Thailand. Sometimes foreigners with a work permit or Thai driver’s license can get in for Thai price. But this is not consistent at all parks.
