    The 4th TeakDoor Soiree - October 2006

It's amazing how quickly four months can fly by. Before you know it, we'll be halfway through October and anticipating the cool season. Before you get your long johns out of the winter clothes box, it will be time to attend the 4th TeakDoor Soiree in Bangkok.

Ignoring certain individuals' schedules, there are two options available:-

Saturday 21st October or Saturday 28th October.

King Chula Day is on the 23rd, so some may prefer the first option.

We would also appreciate ideas for suitable venues. Prefereable somewhere near a Skytrain or Underground station. Last year was at the Bull's Head, but after the Chiang Mai event we're going to be pushed to find somewhere better than the Chiang Mai Saloon in Bangkok.

Thermae is quite good, but we would have to ask them to turn the music down a bit

I'm sure that you wait until my next scheduled trip to Thailand is announced and then plan it for after I have returned home.

I'm never gonna get to one of these things

I hope these aren't rough places where alcohol is used and swearing can be heard, full of tatooed people from the lower classes.

I was thinking about one of those big semi-outdoor Thai places rather than a Seppo restaurant, as we did them in both Jomtien and Chiang Mai.

Bourbon Street is an option though as the location is pretty good, but will they let the muslims in?

Actually, on Suk Soi 11 there's a German Beer House which does good western and Thai food. The front part is outside (but covered). The staff are all OK.

It's the same people who used to have the Beer Garten opposite Soi Cowboy. I'll check it out at the weekend and see how busy it gets on Saturday evenings. It's also right near Nana BTS, so easy to get to.

A very poor joke. In fact if you were to attempt to hold a TD meeting at the Londoner DD may actually use one of his firearms!

How soon do you reckon you can fix on a date??
I am definitely going to get down to this one, especially as a few nice chaps and chappeses made the long journey north last week.

I will need to know fairly prontoish in order to be able to book a holiday.
Either day is fine for me cos I'm always off on Monday and Tuesday.

That would get my vote. Whatever happened to the beergarden Soi23, that was a nice place?

Another place: Beergarden Soi8 - quiet, largish, close to the bars and Skytrain. Food is nothing special, but good - typical Thai menu with some Western choices as may be expected in that area.
And it won't cost me 750bt for a green salad and a few drinks.

We'd need a volunteer to retrieve straying 'members' from "Lolitas", which is nearby...
