    No, not true at all.
    Horrible stuff..poison.

Admittedly my last two posts were of poor quality and I've kind of taken a rather interesting thread off course.
    Apologies all.

Not at all. The trials and tribulations of one "Language Consultant's" batle with alcohol is quite germain tothe subject at hand. These fledgling teachers can aspire to become (ex)drunken "Language Consultants." They can take inspiration from your previous posts.

^Someone told me a similar tale once about paying for hotel rooms or something and I was just thinking, 'I don't bloody know! - Perhaps the receptionist nicked it. Get over it!'. I hate those number-trickery things like the hotel with infinite rooms - When someone starts off on one I fear I will lose the will to breathe in. Life's complicated enough without thinking about monkeys typing Hamlet to the sound of a tree falling over in an empty forest.

    Hey Cap

Read back...both NickA and Colourful-Era explained your money conundrum.

I was wondering what this course is you are taking....accounting 101? or perhaps algebra word problems for young learners.

No I didnee miss school again. In fact I turned up an hour and a half late and asked what I had missed. The teacher gave me 10 answers and I was able to tell him 8 of the questions correctly. He gave me another star and said I was his best student. I am doing so well in fact that he gave me today off.

Dont for a minute think that I am not going to study in my time off. I have 3 colouring in books to get through this weekend alone.

Anyone up for necking a few Heinies down Sukhumvit se sois?

Nope, present simple and verb patterns.

Seems is a stative verb and is never used in the continuous, same as want, understand and about 15 oother verbs.

CS is taking this course seriously = present continuous...

But what would I know I'm Welsh and I'm not a teacher.

This really shouldn't be that complicated, but as soon as my brain reaches the words 'stative verb' it starts thinking about clowns chasing squirrels and there's nothing I can do to stop it.....It's the same with anything to do with finance. I'll ask someone a question about interest rates or somnething, and I'll really try to concentrate, but as soon as they mention something like 'fiscal leverage' those bloody clowns start after the squirrels.

Well I sought permission to post the following pics and I am quite astounded at how able I was to slip back into the learning thing. Today I have been reviewing for an exam that is scheduled for Monday and I think that I am gonna do ok. The exam will be dealing with a module that looks at teaching methods. You know, what to do and what not to do with different students.
If I could spell physcology I would use that word but as I cant I wont but thats what it is about.
Here is a pic of my tutor.

When I first met this geezer I thought that he was fairly middle of the road but as I go back over my notes I can easily recognise that this chap is a very good teacher in as much as he displays everything that he wants to impart to us trainees. Always looking for the good in a person rather than looking to critisize what we do wrong.
Sure, it is a 6 week course designed to prepare even someone like the dog for training conversational English to the Thai students. It aint a degree in education but I can see that even with a degree most folks will agree that this course provides the trainee with invaluable skills in doing the job effectively.

Let me see, my MA in ESL vs. a 6-week course. Yea, right. Should be the same...

4 days per week 5 hours perday must be worthy of a degree over 6 weeks.

Never have I said that it was the same Hilly. In fact I think i paid homage to your education in my post.

Now the gal on the right has an MA in Linguistics and speaks Russian, Chinese, Thai and English fluently. That said she is taking this course in order to further her skills in the teaching of conversational English to Thai students. She is a nice gal too. Interesting and interested.
There are just three of us on this course which is great coz we get a lot of individual help from our tutor.
I will always tip my hat to your credentials in education Hilly but I just want you to understand that some of us have a different perspective.
The guy on the left is a fun loving Irish geezer who has already been teaching English here in the Kingdom but recognized that he could do a better job if he got some training. I have already learned a lot from both of them.

I thought that I left all the cynics at that other site. You blokes can have a field day lambasting what I and others are doing and in the fullness of time you may be right but you may be wrong. I could teach Thai's to speak English without any training but opted to get some training and I am glad that I did.
Sure I was given a great discount but that is more down to who I am rather than market conditions. I dont value the course any less as a result.

Go ahead and make a cnut of yourself if you want. The dog does it all the time so it must be ok.

The fact is that on 22 March I will feel confident enough to help Thai students speak English conversationally and that is all I hoped to get from the course. I understand that such a vocation will readily yield upwards of 40,000 baht per month so lets keep it real guys. At least my students will be getting an educated version rather than that which will be imparted by the likes of Nabs who has no formal training yet is already enjoying similar remuneration.
It aint a perfect system but it is uncanny how those without any training find it easy to ignorantly offer their opinion and think that they know something that they so clearly do not.
