Better half bored at home – sure cure for boredom is to spend some cold hard cash – Shopping…
Haven’t been up into the rice fields of Suphan Buri in a few months so off we go. First of course to the family Chedi at the local Wat. Standard bit of Thai merit-making for recently deceased and ancestors. Visited with the family patriarch 80 some-odd year-old uncle. They do not know exactly how old he is – somewhere in the mid-80’s. In surprising good health considering a life of rice farming in the tropics.
After the standard religious/family stuff we headed to Wat Khao Tham Thiam in U Thong. I believe this used to be a limestone quarry. After removing the limestone they carved a very large Buddha image/statue out of one of the cliff then built a worship hall in a tunnel behind the Buddha statue.
A nice visit, impressive Buddha – two-three hours tops.
