    Camping in Thailand?

Hey, Im in Thailand until December 22 and i thought it would be fun to go camping while im here. Im from Florida and you can rent a small camping spot at state parks for like 30$ and just set up a tent or car or whatever and party all night with a fireplace. I was wondering if there was anything like this in thailand. I have found a few places but they are all like hotel tents that are fully powered with beds and lights and stuff. Im looking for more of a plot of land to build a campfire type thing. This doesnt have to be in central Thailand. Infact it could be anywhere. Does anyone know of any spots to do this type of thing?

Sorry if this is the wrong section. =D

Doi Inthanon up north in the Chaing Mai region has great camping, plus you will get very cool night time temperatures.

There are camping areas in just about every national park in Thailand although most will require you to bring your own tent and other camping gear. They can be pretty quiet in the rainy season for obvious reasons and they are best avoided at weekends when they can get busy. I've camped at a couple. Bangsida was very nice near Aranyapratet and a bit off the beaten track. Another thing to consider is food as some of the more remote places don't have any kind of resteraunt.

Heres the National parks website :

There are other campsites outside national parks in private hands. Often a bit commercial though.

    Something like this is nice

Just pull over in any nice looking roadside spot near a river or beach and pitch your tent and light a fire, no problem.

In Thailand we have aircon units, which are like a hot countries equivalent of a fireplace.

There are portable ones you could use.

We went camping in Suan Phung, Ratchaburi.

It was OK. bit cold at night and too hot in the morning. plus my back ached.

I'd like to see what morning looks like
Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic

Lumphini park in central Bangkok is the in place for camping at the moment, the Thais are protesting the Government and has moved in In Mass. Tent city down there, soup kitchen and all.

I must say they have got a brilliant set up as the vast majority of there tents are perched on the edge of the lake.

Anyone in Bangkok should go have a look, its friggin brilliant.

Yeah, he knows that, that's why he miontioned 'portable'.
He's just wondering why you would want to hang around a fire.

we went camping in and around Pai; the first two days with a large chapter of motorbike boys in a national park by a lovely river, after that, just four of us in a private camping spot

you need your own tent, but usually can have a fire to sit around when the night gets chilly

take your own whisky; those stars are bright
    I have reported your post
