Thanks for sharing, Rob.
Oh yes I agree entirely,
If one had to live in a Bangkok Condo for 12 months of the year I would say your comment is spot on.
But for me living in a Bangkok Condo for a few months at a time it's fookin Brilliant.
To have a Bangkok Condo for a base in Asia it don't get much better.
Have you been to Angkor Wat Terry..?
A 40 minute flight from Bangers to Siam Riep, stay in central Siam Riep for two nights and enjoy the hassle free conviviality of a UNESCO listed destination, get templed out for a few days then tell me it wasn't worth it...
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"
Don't go there, Terry. Too many steps for you at your age.Originally Posted by Neo
Angkor Wat is overrated, in the sense that you are surrounded and jostled by 1000s and 1000s of sweaty people.
Limit the numbers to a couple of 1000 a day and it would be a pleasant experience.
I'd rather chill, swim, snorkel, scuba dive, explore waterfalls, etc in a UNESCO rated bay in the Philippines, which is what I'm doing right now.

First time around 10 years ago, Angkor was the highlight hands down. Back then we never had the hoards of Chinese scum invading the place, we had a brilliant two days with few tourists.
For bazza to say it's over rated is a laugh really. Like saying the Great Serengeti in Africa is full of goats.
I dunno mate but after Thailand Cambodia seemed like a dirt poor desperate place.
I've always preferred Thailand over these other shit holes.
I may go back and have a gander though, it's just over the road.
Mates back in Perth who are the same age as me " 58 ", one has just had a new arsehole fitted after Bowel Cancer and is now up for a hip replacement and another has just undergone a Double total knee replacement. Both done the same OP.
Both Firefighters, exactly why I fooked off 3 years ago. Fook that Eh.
But heh, Na, I'm fine thanks.
I do not run but can walk and climb all day long.
in sr now, 36 but real temp 42 yet still see some young people on bicycles,
drove in from Surin thru Osmach, no problems. been 2 years since i was last up here and the town is now a city and has doubled in size. Off to Steung Treng, Banlung, Sen Monorom before Phnom Pehn
Been going to angkor wat ( still one of the most fantastic places i have visited) since 2004 and last visit was 2014, NOW, TOO many people and way to many obnoxious Chinese, wont be heading there this trip, heading out to Phnom Kulen instead.
Happy terry is on my ignore list, makes reading the threads so much nicer :-)

Phanom Rung a hundred times smaller but same bloody thing without the crowds.
Great pictures, esp Ankor Wat... brings it right back, even tho' I was there over 5 years ago..
If you've done Angkor Wat once better to skip it and do a day trip to Preah Vihear. The chinkies don't appear to be arsed to go that far.
have done aw at least a dozen times and still am amazed, find new things each trip
PV is nice, as are many of the other temples outside SR.. Banteay Chhmer up near Osmach, is especially nice as on an average, u will be the ONLY person there
