A recent report indicates that, from January to November, about 83,000 new legal entities were registered in Thailand, with a combined capital of 262.85 billion baht.
The highest number of registrations occurred on September 9th, an auspicious date in Thai culture, according to Anukool Pruksanusak, Deputy Government Spokesperson.
Data from the Department of Business Development (DBD) under the Ministry of Commerce showed that January recorded the highest registrations, with more than 9,000 entities and a capital of 25.43 billion baht. February followed with 8,000 registrations, while September had nearly 7,900 registrations.
Cultural beliefs influenced many businesses to choose auspicious dates for registration. The top dates included September 9th, January 29th, August 8th, and January 9th, all believed to bring progress, prosperity, or leadership based on Thai and Chinese numerological significance.
The DBD has developed a digital registration system, the “DBD Biz Regist” website, to streamline the process. The system allows entrepreneurs to conveniently select favorable dates for registration and is set to be fully operational by next year.
The initiative reflects Thailand's efforts to modernize business services while respecting cultural traditions that influence business practices.
