BANGKOK (NNT) - A new campaign has been launched promoting the sale of products made by small and medium businesses, on online platforms. The campaign by the OSMEP features products from small businesses on Thailand’s major e-commerce platform Shopee, promoting their access to online customers.

The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) launched the campaign helping Thai SMEs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, gain more retailing opportunities via an e-commerce platform.

In the new campaign, the OSMEP is joining hands with the e-commerce platform Shopee to showcase products from local SMEs, in line with changing consumer behavior towards online shopping.

The online campaign replaces the usual trade fair held by the OSMEP and the Thai Chamber of Commerce, as the offline event cannot be held during the prevalence of COVID-19 cases.

Instead, SMEs previously registered for a trade fair booth are given the opportunity to sell their product on the e-commerce platform.

Mr Sanan Angubolkul, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC), said today some 600 SMEs have already shown interest in this online campaign, with around 1,500 items now listed for online sale.

He said the campaign is still open for more businesses to join, while the TCC will continue to provide help in terms of new retailing opportunities, capital access, and capacity building, in order to help enhance the strength of SMEs in all respects.

The SMEs campaign on Shopee is now live, with a special 15% discount code offered until 20th September. The application can be downloaded free of charge on both iOS App Sore and Android Google Play Store.
