BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Finance is now preparing a new round of COVID-19 relief payments to the general public, while dismissing the rumored 4,000 baht per person cash distribution.


The Ministry of Finance Spokesperson, Kulaya Tantitemit has announced the Ministry of Finance is now working with related agencies to establish new aid campaigns for the general public affected by the new wave of COVID-19 infections.


She said the government still has sufficient funding from several sources, including the 2021 Fiscal Year budget and specifically allocated budget for COVID-19 relie, worth 139 billion baht.


In addition, the government still has access to the remaining 470 billion baht portion of the emergency loans, as well as the 290 billion baht state enterprises’ investment budget to help advance the economy.


The Ministry of Finance Spokesperson has however asked the public not to believe shared messages on social media platforms claiming the government will be giving out 4,000 baht compensation per person, as related sectors are still discussing the right measures to help affected people.
