Not really Thailand focused but something I was thinking about...
A couple of years back I had a few bob in the account after I finished my stint in Brunei. Did a bit of research and decided I would give the online broker degiro a whirl. It's only open to European passport holders I think.
Of course, I had no idea what I was doing really. Put most of my cash in the Vanguard SP500 and Nasdaq trackers. They did ok until the coronavirus crash. Had to diversify quite rapidly but things worked out fine.
I held onto the Nasdaq trackers as that index has performed very well for the last decade. Microsoft and Apple are my main holdings now. Read that Apple are doing a 4 for 1 stock split so the price has soared again. Got a few other stocks for growth and dividends.
My friend in Ireland has a zinc exploration company (drilling near my home) so I bought 15k shares in that. Penny stock so not a big deal (but doing well so far).
I use tipranks.com to upload and track my portfolio. It's free and really helpful. Also got marketbeat.com bookmarked.
anybody else use degiro or similar online brokers?
