3 months ago we couldn't get staff even though we offered attractive salary packages.

Even after the economy kick starts Thai's will not do production line work and we will need Burmese, Cambodian and Laos workers to fill positions and that is if the Thai authorities allow them to do so by providing them with work permits.

As I mentioned the people in power need to reassess their position on a lot of restrictions and anti-foreign policies which is hurting the country.

    Two diametrally different aspects:

-Could not afford to stay: in case they stayed here in a 5-star hotel
-Meet visa requirement: if the above aspect was "yes" then I believe they were also not able to manage the visa (there are some 100,000's here staying over 30 years on 3-months visa, mai mee panhaa)

The staff by falangs? And the positions are now filled by " Burmese, Cambodian and Laos workers"?
Then I believe that the "attractive salary packages" did not attract the falangs.

...*sigh*...the phrase "poor management skills" refers to managing expectations, not business or operations management...thus your comment is irrelevant...as well as revealing...

you like living in Thailand, lom?

staying here means better environment and better lifestyle, so why bother?

it's nice to have an objective point of view on this. When you are staying there, it's impossible to have.

if I was still there, I would probably stay in denial of the situation like all those expats

    Most definitely.
Might even apply to particular management styles that perceive/decree themselves as developed and superior, which lays ground for the usual illusion to fester.

The coming post-COVID era will hit them the hardest.

It is a true global phenomena that many of the big boys will struggle greatly to recover from.
.....and there's always the fantasy cultural superiority to fall back on -

So that objective view does only exist when you're in Europe looking at Thailand but not when you're in Thailand looking at Europe?
Your "objective" view is as subjective as mine.

I enjoy returning to Thailand as everyone does, but staying long time, no way. Going back and forth between 2 locations does give you a better sense of reality and comparisons, hence making the analysis more objective.

Staying in the same place all the time, might it be Europe or Thailand, would indeed bias that sense of reality.

Reality is where you lay your head down.

May you never lay your head down, without a hand to hold.
