    No sweat Khun Janda,

The thing is, this thread is about my own Napoleonic complex, LPS (little penis syndrome), and my new book "My Thai Wife's New House". Here are the roof tiles. Tiles only account for 25% of the total roof cost. No idea why as the bill was in Thai. Burned out enough that I don't really care.

Here are the 20's. They stacked them up in a big cube. If I don't render the exterior walls the place will look like an igloo from the cartoons.

What have you decided to do with insulation? Anything?

Good job on the daily thread posting by the way and good commentary. Thanks for sharing.

    Khun Sea,

Yeah, had a wrestling match with the Mrs. over color of roof and other design elements. I'm trying for understated bordering on the minimalist. She's Isaan. 'Nuf said.
Went with the "cool roof system". Meaning foil directly under tiles but over stringers. Airgap is obtained between foil and tiles with little spacers. Combined with ridgevents
should "wash" hot roof with cool air.
As for insulation I'll put the fattest layer of staycool I can afford on the ceiling.

I understand and read you loud and clear on the "cool roof system". I did same but have no ability to comment or offer any profound assessments at this point. What you are doing all looked familiar hence, my comments. Keep up the good work.

Vented soffits are one of the best things I have seen on a home in Thailand (seen in your pictures)! Good job! If you install a couple roof turbines and a high “R” valued insulation (as you say) in the attic space it should keep that space well ventilated and insulated.
I have been watching the construction threads here for some time and hardly ever see vented soffits. I hope the idea takes here in Thailand.

Thanks S. It's an idea I really believe in. I kind of overdid it with the total area of these vents, but that's okay I think it looks cool, too. Ultimately I'll have a system that draws air through the house (as well as the soffits), and it'll exit through different places in the roof.

Once again the truck is full of cans of paint, and we wait. They're fixing the gypsum ceiling prior to the second coat of primer. Miiiight be able to get the whole house painted this week. We pretty much have our ducks in a row after that.
