You should make a decorative wooden panel with Stairway to Heaven embossed and put it up over the entrance to the stairway mate.

    Plumbing part Z...

Ok.. K Pot has been finishing off some of the stuff he was supposed to do in stage 4.

There was no issue with him not doing it as his finishing was actually stopped my me on the basis that we would eventually secure the mango plot and the drain field for the septic systems would end up there.

My purchase of that adjoining plot was, as you know was eventually successful, so now the way was clear for him to complete this outdoor plumbing.

Main pipe leading from house to drain field

The same pipe leading to 'Mango-land'

Lots of time and effort getting the right fall - remember this only carrying liquids, not solids (as long as the septic tank is working OK!)

Waste grey water also heading that way for now (not going via the septic tank so as not to kill the good bacteria)

Grease trap on every grey line

    ...and on...

There was quite a trench my the time it got to mango land but that was not raised up so was easier at the boundary

    Lucky they had that mini-digger...

Finished, waiting for ''testing and commissioning''...

    Jeez...pipes everywhere!

Ooops this one out of sequence - mango land prep before the pipe

That's the overflow pipe coming out of the septic tank

    Another grease trap.

and sme one from the other view...

Hopefully that's it for plumbing - just got to form the actual drain field itself

    Divider line

Finally, we found something K.Pot forgot to do!!

Actually, I did not find it - PJ was on the ball after checking the plans against the photos..

He forgot the divider between the ground and first floors - not sure what the actual name for that is but its this thing:

    So now...

...little touches but makes all the difference.

Tiles, ceilings, doors and ...WTF is that!?

Here's a quick round up of what K.Pot's reduced work crew have been up to...

Yep...still some ceilings to finish... here hes taking breather from the dining room ceiling.

here's the kitchen, looking out to zone 2 ground floor open area.
We gave the builder a bit of a free hand to complete the ceilings. here we seem to have gained an extra step in the ceiling..what happened?

inside they are working on the en-suites. Here is bedroom 2 ES, with the basin shelf under construction

later, the dining room ceiling is now further on (the date function on the phone is out of sync as this date appears to be before the first pic - oops)

    another view inside the kitchen

And this is the downstairs hall

meanwhile... on the wall tile front...

We were (she was) thinking about this door for the upstairs access from house to balcony.
I'm still not 100% with it but foolishly I have left door choice to PJ and I will go with what she picks. This is one option.

    and then...

    WTF is that!?
I did not choose those tiles, and I'm not sure I like them. they look lumpy as in a 3D relief - not ideal for a WC floor.
I am looking back through my photos in Bunthavorn.. nope I dont have this one.
She must have picked them and given that number to K.Pot because I am sure it was a flat, light colored tile in that WC.
    Damn! what to do!?

TD, must be nice to see progress on some of the less aesthetic stuff, the dull but worthy. I noticed a couple on 90 degs on the blue pipe from the septic to the concrete pipe. Whilst you said it should be liquid so shouldn't matter, it would get me twitching.

Its a good point, NPT... I missed that. it could be a disaster if the septic tank over-filled and ran over.. then there would almost certainly be a problem (knowing my luck).
We will have to keep an eye on those tanks... that can be one of PJ's jobs...

TD, look at it this way, they could be accent tiles, just not in the traditional manner. Traipse through the house admiring the taste and coordination and wham, there's a bit of offset Thainess to bring first a frown and then an unexpected smile.

TD make sure you tell us why she chose those tiles. I bet the answer will be that they were cheap.

When we build our first house back in 2004 I told the missus that she could do whatever she liked but the toilet must be one I can sit on not squat on (still can't squat) so when I first got to use it guess what she had bought a kids toilet, because it was cheaper. I could barely fit my fat arse on it and it was almost as difficult to get off as the squat toilets are to squat on.

As for the 90 degree bends in your septic overflow, the only time I have had a drain block was at a T joiner, when they glued it together they had left a jagged end on the bit they inserted into the T piece and the long hair got caught on it and eventually built up until it blocked. I originally had a strainer on the drain hole but that got removed because guess what it blocked up with hair all the time.

I just love living in Thailand where logic gets defied on a regular basis.

Ootai, yes we've got to get the logic on this one re the tiles.

On the bends, they shouldn't pose and issue but like everything in life a smoother ride is always preferable

I realised long ago best to make house decisions myself, in a nutshell IMO they have lousy taste driven mainly by cost, go to virtually any Thai house, it wont be tasteful! Look at where they were bought up, that is there standard, being harsh with them in the beginning can save a lot of heartache (and cost) later, bless them for trying though

That's one way to look at it NPT, and it could work.... or alternatively.... follow the clear instructions in post 1911.....

Some Arabic designs are intricate and interesting.... this floor is not one of those!

I did ask her why those tiles, and its all gone quiet... like she's hurt i would even be questioning the choice!

Thank God its only a small area, in the upstairs WC... 1. will be reasonably quick / inexpensive to change and 2. not many will actually see it!

TD, my view for what its worth, leave them. She'll feel she's had a say in it and they aren't pink etc; your sacrifice may pay dividends downstream.
