OK we have stuff in pots in BKK so that can be brought, plus the garden centre about 15 clicks away for some more.

Yeah.. those apartments are part of the pension plan as you rightly say.... I can rest easy once they are furnished and generating a return.

No... not finishing in Dubai in April, but not staying 'til the end of the project (in 2020) either. shh don't tell anyone that, though...

TBH... the project is great, the site team are fantastic but you know how corporate have always got to try micro-managing and interfere?

The pettiness is really starting to get up my nose now. Oh... the whole site team feel the same way, incidentally.

Probably be end of August as I will really have had enough by then.

TD, You'll obviously have loads of time to develop your ideas for the garden, its just that if you are planning on buying some fairly mature trees to put in for immediate effect then coinciding that with the wet season is a good idea as the roots will find the wet/damp ground easier to establish in and take less looking after.

August, goodness not far off, as Norts says try to avoid Songkran, i do.

TBH NPT... i did not really give much thought to it!!

even now, Im not sure i would land some mature trees into the plot.

I keep telling her to start thinking about the garden layout and she keeps putting it off.

I think its a Thai thing...!?

I want a few rose trees - yes i know... Little Britain strikes again! apart from that tho.... its mainly over to her.

Rose trees goes wild in the tropics and will fill your garden with that sweet aroma .

Once Khun Pot has cleared out the 'Chonburi Hilton', cleared the debris and shaped up the ground, we might have a better idea of what is going where.

I can't remember who suggested that clause - it came from the TD forum members, so thanks to them. I would not have thought of it.

I used to visit lots of houses under construction and saw how they handles builder's rubble. Hence my suggestion.

Maybe an inspection of the site before they put any topsoil on?

That's a good idea, VN and one for the OrBorTor engineer to follow up on.

You are right - building debris can get...err... 'buried' in all the excitement to leave the site!

It may be worth planning on laying "turf" at the first opportunity? The soil here isn't the best! & quickly goes from being rock hard to quicksand when the rains arrive, it needs something to hold it together, grass is easy to grow here, plenty of water for the first couple of weeks and generally takes ok, gives you something to work from going forward.

I was in 2 minds about big expanses of grass.... looks good but.. gotta maintain it.

As you say, grows well, i.e fast

so I am making a chore for my self.

but wait.. Thai law says I'm not allowed to 'work'? ...so she can do it!!

lol and probably will put some so the girls have somewhere to run around and play badminton, etc

and I like the smell of fresh cut grass (who doesn't!?)

I can run that one past SWMBO for final approval.

From what I learned gardening in Australia what you want is a "chinese" rose ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosa_chinensis) , rather than an English rose, as these do OK in humid tropical and sub-tropical climates. I would think that any rose sold around chonburi would be a Chinese variety, the English varieties would only be OK up north.
Mind you, I never had much success with roses ......:( ...so don't take my advice as gospel !

TD if you think about it you have to maintain an area no matter if it has grass or any other growing plant.The only way to avoid the work is to put that crushed rock down. Airports idea if you have room aint a bad one and really mowing it isn't too much trouble - the same idea wrt put in before the rains applies so if KPot clears, levels and gets some good soil on then why not turf.

You could even go down the route of a low maintenance garden with raised gardens and stone features.

The possibilities are endless and will really give your property the wow factor before they even go inside.

I am interested in that raised bed idea as I am not getting any younger - plan ahead, lol but its also good for drainage too.

I will be including some features into the garden as photography backdrops for photoshoots, assuming I can get that going. Benches, bamboo, tree canopies, water feature, etc.

That will be later in the year though - let's get in first!!

Basically there are only two varieties readily available and that are easy to grow here, thin bladed grass, they give it so many different names I don't know which is correct, and the thick bladed Malay grass, we laid two rai of grass, the majority is thin blade, any where it didn't grow like shaded areas we put Malay grass, they integrate quite nicely.
