Main bedroom balcony:
Just waiting for the Mae Daeng for the bedroom floor
Upper hall (Landing)
of course, they have tidies up but not polished all the floors yet
Bedroom 2
sorry... his is slightly out of focus.. i will get another one later
And... note all the Daikin AC units waiting to be fitted, also in Bedroom 2.....
I have just noticed... the ability to edit posts if there is a typo (quite a common occurrence for me!) is no longer available...
is that a bonus feature of 'famous threads'!!?
Not complaining, just asking!
Dressing room
Most of this will be covered by wardrobes, drawers and a dressing table + slide out mirror
Buddha room
I know it looks a bit small but its really for her n the kids. i can watch from the doorway
I think the walls would look better with wood cladding myself....
Main balcony / Verandah
Main living room to the left still waiting for the Mae Daeng flooring
That light shining into the area will be gone once zone 3 is built
It always amazes me, the difference a lick of paint will make .
TD, do you think you will be in before Xmas ?
Looking very special .
hi DM, thanks for stopping by!
Yeah - its all coming together albeit a bit slower now. This is because a lot of the build crew have been deployed elsewhere
The painter and team will be back on site this week for the Sala, and a few other 'wood' effect locations.
They are just starting to fit bathrooms too. I will be posting pictures, hopefully latter today - I am sooooo busy on the 'day job' at the moment! - we just completed the 'topping out' of the dia-grid structure
We are thinking of painting the roof under zone 2 with the same wood effect to break up a huge expanse of white / magnolia colour...
....and in answer to the question... no... i will be back in LoS for the Christmas week but I do not think we will be in by then.
We are OK with that anyway - he can take the time to complete it right.
Only 25 days til Christmas!
The kitchen itself, which not part of the build contract has not even started and probably wont be til late December.
K.Pot is interested in doing it but with concrete carcasses.
I am not sure he can do that and then we clad it with wood fronts to create a western style wooden appearance kitchen ...
We are going for star galaxy granite worktops unless there is an amazing bargain on another black finish granite.
Yep... thats it, Norton.
The top is galaxy granite, and I would be happy with the concrete carcasses as long as he could recreate that same sort of wooden 'front' to the kitchen units. i.e. doors butting up together all the way along and no big gaps revealing wood facings, the concrete or tiles.
I have an idea for the layout (front view) but it would need careful measuring of the concrete, and probably some thinner construction too.
I am not sure if it can be done....
TD whilst concrete is cheap and durable you are going to have the problem of its chunky nature which yes you can hide but what about the internals? concrete bases, then you'll not want the bottoms bare and so tiles? which unless you get them in a size to fit the depth and "unit" width will look shit.
You could lay in a base like a worktop to give a seamless surface on the bottom and use a teak batten to face off either faced particle board or top quality ply as the unit dividers - the batten can support the cupboard door hinges with cupboard doors either bought from a flat pack type kitchen supplier or get them bespoke in your hardwood of choice.
It depends on the finish you want to achieve - KPot may not be able to deliver in this area as its not really his specialism and you'll kick yourself if you get a fred flintstone kitchen in your lanna country house - you my have to look elsewhere.
You also have a cabinet cue in style from your wall design outside - why not bring this inside in real wood?
So many options NPK... you hit the nail on the head.
I am looking for something that externally looks like that picture posted by Norton, but of course the insides matter too.
I know a 'little' bit about joinery but not sure if I want to tackle this as, as you say, it could ruin everything.
We have a price for n all-wood option from the sawmill place and it is reasonable, but agreeing the final design might bump that up and I am not sure they include every design element that I want.
its fairly basic and of course does not include appliances or worktops
The concrete option has benefit for longevity if we get any of those ' lil' chewers' in looking for a wood banquet.
if I could be sure I could 'face' the concrete so that it looked like the kitchen units in Norton's photo, I could probably sort out the cupboard interiors myself.
I think it would need careful measuring to make sure the carcass lined up with standard drawer and door width sizes, unless I had them made (but who wants a kitchen with unequal door fronts just to fit the carcass!?)
We will have one and we will use it.
It gets all the plates / cups / pans sterile clean. dries it all too
Hand washing cannot always do this, as the water is not that hot as in the dishwasher, and the wash time per item is a lot less.
Of course, a dishwasher has to be maintained, whether it be auto or manual!
I would pass on concrete cabinets. There are plenty of very good cabinet makers in Thailand. Bet you wouldn't have to look hard to find one in your area. Check at the lumber yard you bought your flooring.
Yes - it s them gave us the quote for a general idea on a 'kitchen. was not unreasonable (lol unlike Bunthavorn who solemnly told us, after taking my design plan and giving back my design plan s their design that it would cost 1.3 MILLION for average (ready crap) cabinets with wooden fronts NOT INCLUDING appliances)
I expect Mr Sawmill will raise the price once i firm up the design and complexity of what i want
I agree.
With the investment you've made already go bespoke. There is even an argument to be made for a bespoke kitchen built and fitted in a way you could easily remove and take with you should you decide to move again - if you get one built with high quality wood, it'll withstand time and you like its design of fab then why not build in the ability to take it away - just a thought.
Indeed. A friend has KITZCHO looks and functions great.
