TD, if you are up to it. I note the banister uprights have scorch marks where the square section joins to the wood. Did they drill out the wood and insert some metal to weld to?
Not to my knowledge - PJ was there yesterday, doing battle over a boundary dispute with another neighbour next to our plot 1, and was told that a hole was drilled up though the bottom and it was then attached to the concrete via an embedded bolt on the stairs.
It's all getting painted in that same walnut colour anyway, to match the other paint

Sala progress
Remember a few posts back, I asked what this might be.....
no body answered, BTW!
Sala progress
This might be a clue...
Looks like wood bits to fill the bannister.
Sala Progress
Oh...what a giveaway!
Yes...those long-awaited Sala panels for the stairs...
Looking good I think..
Top of the stairs where the Sala access meets the upper floor
Another view at the top...
An earlier shot when the panels were being fitted
Looking down on the Sala
Wait! whats that!?
The last lot were window accents, don't think they are banister adornments but the sala roof looks like it ends a little too abruptly so maybe something on the sala?
Opps cross post, see you've shown them on the stairs, well done norts
Whatever they are, the place is really starting to get a finished look. Looking good TD.
Sala Progress
Got some of these too...
TD, re the sala. There doesn't seem to be much protection from the sun with the roof being so high? or is the purpose of the sala as a rest stop on your journey from the road?
I have some shades like these. Simular would do the trick for sala.
That's a thought
Sala supposed to be for meeting visitors formally, then deciding if that's it.. of if you want to invite them further into the home. Either way wont be too long in the sala!
No one comes visiting if its raining...! CCTV will vet those who do and depending who, they wont get past the boundary wall gate in most cases.
lol.. peeps should be carrying their own sunblock - its sunny 'n' hot in Thailand!
