Occasionally I pop into the Red Lion on a Sunday for their roast dinner.
    Soi Sukhumvit 13, Trendy Building

The Red Lion English Pub Bangkok | Bangkok

The decor and atmosphere there is a bit like a UK pub next to a railway station in the early 90s, but missing the sticky carpet.

    The roast is alright though.

Also. Whatever happened to Marmite the Dog?

I fell into conversation with two gentlemen at the bar of the Red Lion who were both of the opinion Thailand was the best place in the world to be resident and Bangkok its jewel in the crown. I agreed but suggested that over 80% of the population might take issue even if we smug complacent western ‘ I’m alright Jacks ‘ couldn’t give a fuck. They then realised I was not of their ilk and the conversation died.
Cheap beer though and the food is generally passable. It does have a coterie of loudmouthed arseholes but by and large folk there are fairly innocuous. There is no attempt by the owners to establish any semblance of a “ local “ atmosphere. As already mentioned, it has the whiff of a transport terminus boozer about it or a less successful Wetherspoons.

It's OK sausages , we've realised your not all that sociable in public those guys likely found your Thai view a bit skewed or they could of thought you were a pompous asshole , did chickenheads come up in the banter? Could be your just a bit crusty for people that are actually enjoying living in Thailand and are still positive did you mention the sausage incident?

Is the Black Swan still as good as it was when under Asok BTS?

^ I used to go in every once in a while when it was under the BTS, especially on rainy nights and quite liked the place.
I went once to its new location and just didn't enjoy the atmosphere and or the set up.
    I haven't been back since.

I am sure other opinions are available

Indeed, but scarcely surprising since most patrons there thought you a cvunt.

I went there once on a Sunday afternoon during the COVID prohibition period as I was reliably informed that they were one of those nice establishments selling beer in coffee mugs.
I can't have thought much of the place though (or the Sunday roast) as I haven't been back since.
