Stickman Weekly ( 8/5/2016)....refers to the Dubliner bar & hotel on Sukhumvit 33

....Speaking of difficulty paying salaries, word is that the closure of The Dubliner is because they were several months behind on the rent. The Dubliner had been having difficulty for some time and suppliers were insisting that alcohol was paid for on delivery - and that goes back to well before I left Bangkok. What I am hearing now is that the fight that broke out at the start of Songkran was between The Dubliner's well-known owner and the landlord of the property. A few people around town have smirks on their faces about the whole situation, given the rumours that have plagued The Dubliner for years - and I don't mean the rumours about those who believe that all of Ireland should be an independent republic - but the other set of rumours.

Strong rumours had it that The Dubliner sold this week for 9.5 million baht but the person who was said to have bought it denies it, although he admits to being interested in it. He states that a protracted court battle between The Dubliner and the landlord means a deal cannot be done at this time.

Never liked the place...I hate Irish run pubs abroad, especially Thailand...plastic paddy patriotism..... shifty fuckers who treat their staff like shit and always trying to make a quick baht....they’re your best friend for as long as you get pissed....the nature of the beast i suppose...

If only that had been their only fault....... Just Google Brinton Group if you want to know about the type of person running this place.

Well, I know what you mean but some keep it fairly low key.
The Dubliner on its old site I could just about stomach once a month or so. That place in the photo looks way OTT.

at least in the old dubliner the fat loud boozy crimson complexioned brits and micks with their slapper wives or airheaded tarty, tattooed thai arm-candy bints were where they belonged, that is indoors and well out of sight of the general public passing by.

in the "new" dubliner these people are, or were, outside on the veranda and on show to the bewilderment of the passers by, the infinitely more presentable and sophisticated european and japanese expats of the neighbourhood

the food was shite and it was far too dark inside. the waitresses were moody as well. considering it was sandwiched between the robin hood and the royal oak i'm surprised it had any repeat customers at all.

I quite liked the new Dubliner because the braying, loud-mouthed, fat bellied, drink sodden, sweaty, I-like-rugby- so-I'm-not-a-queer English and Ocker cvunts seldom visited, if at all.

Awful people which is why the Robin Hood and Royal Oak are to be avoided.

Th new Dubliner had their soft opening last night...

Place was empty, wankers were charging 260 baht for a pint of heineken on their soft opening.

Still a lot of work to do...

Theres a lot more light inside now

    Outside

The drinks menu is the same as the Royal Oak because the guy who owns that now owns half of this.
The food menu looked nice but that needs some work too.

Here's the Limerick ham in cider, the ham was great but the dish as a whole was dry as fuck and needed some kind of gravy.

As for the toilets... Bettyboo and NZ Dick would fukkin love it in there

What a shitty soft opening. Tossers

^Will take that off my places to have a pint normally pay about 240 baht for a pint of cider.Still looks like a building site when they going to finish the place off.

what kind of jumped up numpty reserves a table in a faux british/irish boozer in bangkok.

do they imagine themselves as patrons of the dorchester in park lane, or perhaps l'arpege in paris.

ive seen similar idiocy at the wednesday night market in cha am where the fashionistas of the local falang aristocracy reserve seats at the tin tables outside the booze shops by the market. sitting there in all there bloated glory in their cargo shorts and flip flops necking chang and guzzling german bratwursts and chips whilst their blinged up women squawk and squeak as they polish off mountains of som tam and fried chicken.

    have they no shame?
