    Panthip Plaza

Just wondering what's new with Panthip since I have not been to LOS in a few years?

I remember it used to have a beer garden outside which I enjoyed, until they had the great idea to turn it into one of those fad style bakery places, and made the place deserted.

Must be part of the old crackdown on alcohol then. I used to know a few of the shop owners in Panthip, and would enjoy people watching and having a few beers with them when shopping for yet more unnecessary gadgets!

I even hit it off with one of the staff once

I asked for that one I suppose. What I should have written was; 'I even hit it off with one of the staff once - who happened to be female, attractive, and around 25 years of age'.

the gadgets there are more expensive now than Tesco or Carrefour

they are also more expensive than Europe, that's how bad it is these days

a lot of desperate shop owners selling the same crap next to each other, there is no angle or specialization. When you look for something specific, there is only one shop somewhere in the back that will take you about 2 hours to find.

Fortune town is better and a lot more room, no touts grabbing at you either as you walk around.

Agree completely, Fortune is much better. Panthip is too sleazy.

Painthip 2 on Ngam Wongwahn Road is also good, my favourite store in fact. No touts or crowds , plenty of food and other shopping plus a good flea market with secondhand goods on the top floor.

Panthip is a pain in the butt to get to. Vehicles on Petchaburi are forced to turn left into Chidlom so you have to drive way around and fight ridiculous traffic in front of Central World before turning left onto Petchaburi again.
