^ It was a great bar with Fletcher and Matty Swire running the place with amazing characters including Crazy Jeff. Do you remember him and what he did the morning the car drove straight through Jools front door?

Yup, and damn what memories bringing up Matthew Swire the black sheep of the family if their ever was one. Several of those rich kids running around at that time. Some a hell of a lot older than Matty.

Then you have to remember back to when Woodstock was not just Peter Gale, but Peter, Kevin from Oz, and Tom still working in Saudi who came back on holidays. Thats where Kim split from and got the backing from Matthew. Were you here when they were making Good Morning Viet Nam and Robin Williams was in town?

I wasn't around that day but I remember seeing the picture on the wall where Robin Williams was serving food to Fletcher.

I can remember Joan Jett being in the bar and Baron Bonk (Peter Moon) was a regular along with Bernard Trink. In fact I also met Buriram Boy and Klongmaster in Jools a long time before I ever posted on internet forums.

Some great punters in the bar in those days in fact all along the Soi there was never any shit only a bunch of good lads.

Bar4. Had grand opening last Friday. Big crowd, but agree its going to be just another rail to lean on and people watch.

Loosely sponsored by the same family that sponsors Strikers. I think there is a wife/GF in common between the two farangs that put up the money.

Yep - Swire family. Mathew is still a very nice bloke. Too nice for his own good.

Sadly Golden Bar will close very soon. An institution gone. To be replaced by a Hooters is the rumour.

I was in there last week. It was so quiet I had my choice of seats at the front facing the street. These seats used to be like gold dust. The end of another Bangkok institution to be replaced by a shitty run of the mill Hooters

Hope its still there in a week. Nephews visiting first time to SEA .
    22 and 25yo country boys.

That was on the must do list of Red light BKK.
Losing it to a hooters is tragic.
I understand that looking at nana now its just a shade of what it was even 15 years ago.
Still enjoyable to have a sit and a beer watching the parade thru fresh eyes.
That and front centre lucifers disco walking street always a good spot for wierdo watching.

Nana is always best the first time you visit it. After that you just feel like you are getting robbed blind every time you walk in a bar

Location Location. and as others have said: a perfect place to scan for candy. Also if you are hungry you can just ask one of the girls in the bar to fill a plate from the stalls out front. Offer them a meal and go from there. A few cold beers and nice conversation. Not a bad afternoon...
