    Question Songkran Free Zones

A friend of mine is stocking up on tins of food from Tesco's like we're on the eve of a nuclear war as everybody prepares for Songkran.

The past two weeks I have had many people saying to me, "Whaddaya doing for Songkran, whaddaya doing for Songkran?", and i'll be doing the same fucking this for Songkran as I did for Pancake day, Easter Sunday and the anniversary of princess Di - FUCK ALL.

We are living in times where only 1% of the worlds water is drinkaable, we'll be fighting over it soon so let's chuck it about for fun. Yes, I despise Songkran - I don't know why, it may have something to do with me being middle aged.

I had been hoping to go out for a free beers with my new friend before she goes back to Kyoto for a few days but she doesn't fancy getting soaked and catching a cold.

For us boring old farts that just want to have a few beers in a nice pub and get home dry, can anybody recommend anywhere?

I was hoping the fucking thing had been cancelled.

If they start throwing klong water they can be charged with chemical warfare.

Those who have copped a face full of it know that I am not fucking joking.

I went to Smuggy's Saturday night.

He told me you were ugly.

I agreed and we had a beer together.

From home to Chiang Mai it's 30km with morons every 200m throwing buckets of dirty klong water on your face when driving the motobike. You can get eye infection, ears infection, accident alone with the bike or some drunk driver hit you. I hate the next 10 days to come.

I suppose the daytime will be the most silly regarding water pistols and that flour paste they wipe on your cheeks in a minus IQ sort of daze hung on a smile that denotes that they don't really know why they do this, but isn't it just fun?

Hopefully night time will be safer around central Sukhumvit, or is that wishful thinking - I mean, surely I could get to the Robin Hood from the BTS couldn't I?

Not that I'd want to, compared to The Bulls Head and The Black Swan, The Robin Hood is SHIT.

Most of it does calm down in the evening. It is Songkran and if you do venture out in the daytime you just need to be prepared to get wet. I reckon you would be safe around Emporium, there are no "open" bars or shops that are the likely places you would find a 45 gallon drum outside of

The only thing certain in life is death and taxes. Just take a chance. Make sure to put your phone, wallet, etc. in a ziploc bag.

They won't be throwing water in the malls. Just go there or something.

I really dont understand why you guys hate it so much, I love it and so do my kids. I missed it this year and would normaly stock up on food and grog and settle in for a few days. Songkran in a isaan village is not a bad spot to be.
