    My cunning plan

Feeling stifled and need to get away from Pty for a few days, wifey's working over Xmas, youngest (8) on hols, so I'm thinking to kill three birds by also replacing his usual 14-hour ipad days with some quality time in Bkk, starting next Mon/Tues to Thurs/Fri.

It's only a plan, subject to other stuff some of which is beyond my control, though looking good and if things fall right it's best to have an idea on what's available.

About all I know in Bkk is the lower Suk area and Silom, while the www says there's more than enough to wean him off his ipad for the entire fortnight.

I've heard good things about underwater world, kidzoonia (not kidzoona), dreamworld, rowboats etc, so putting together the first draft of an itinerary is easy enough, but nothing beats first-hand experiences/recs from dads with similar age boys in the bkk area, or for that matter anyone.

Travel: undecided to drive or bus
Hotel: no fixed budget, prefer to book ahead with family-type c1500
    Shopping: toys, science, whatever
    Food: Indian, ME, farang
Day/evening venues: whatever interests an 8 yr old

You will fail at the first hurdle if you decide to Drive or bus. ?????? Are you Insane. ??

You fly into the shit house and only use the extensive MRT or BTS. Will take you anywhere in complete comfort as long as you are not stupid enough to travel Peak times.

Bangkok is brilliant over Christmas especially for the brats.

Anyway, suppose you will work it out.

Go check the Bangkok forum my man

Science park and planetarium one day.

Ocean World and Kidzania (both in Paragon) another day.

Up to Dream World another day.

National Science museum up in Pathom Thani another.

Muang Boran, Siam Ancient City on the way to Pattaya is interesting. Drive a golf cart at full Lulu around a giant model of Thailand and all it's famous landmarks and temples.

Thai Airforce Museum. My wife's 9 year-old nephew is always asking to go back.

There are a few small hotels near Phrakhanong BTS.

Jabs reading between the lines are kids coming along. If so Dave did a thread about a week back and Dill and others gave some great options for keeping the kids occupied.

Not easy to fly from Pty-Bkk, but thanks for the Christmas bit, should have a great time barring whatever goes wrong.

Excellent, the planetarium and science park should go down a treat, another day for Ocean world and kidzania, maybe a museum/market or two, and if driving maybe take in MBoran on the way back.

I cant work out what Pty stands for. Google says Panama?!

Luigi covered most of it, but oceanworld and kidzania in one day is mental. Easily spread it into two days. Especially if you get a hotel with a pool.

Bounce would be good,(loads of trampolines) and go karting at RCA.

Axe throwing in lad prao, Lazer quest, bowling, I've skating. New star wars in the cinema.

A beach trip to Pattaya would be doable too
I'd like to see what morning looks like
Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic

A few ideas here ... https://teakdoor.com/thailand-hotels...tel-deals.html (Thailand Hotel Deals)

I use 'hotels combined', 'sukhumvit,' show in Thai Baht, show lowest price first.

You definitely wanna drive to Bangkok if you have a car. Phrakanong, On Nut, Nana and Silom are next to toll booths so easy to get in and out.
Then do what Terry says and use the BTS when you get in.
Although if you changed your plans to visit the week after- New Year instead of Xmas, the roads will be empty and you can bomb up and down the place, although maybe everywhere will be shut

Your not gonna get much for 1500 baht during Peak Season, certainly not a family hotel.

Maybe look at The Little Pig, Omni Tower, At Mind or Dave's S30, 16 metre cell

I'm still tying to fig out most of what the fireman says. I get the SEPPO part. I think it's from that 70's show. Who knows? Some day I'll read about it in camping magazine.

Praying I outlive "The Harper's Daily."

The snake farm at the bottom of Silom is worth a shout too (for the dad as much as the little 'un).

    https://www.saovabha.com/en/snakefarm_service.asp

Milkings around midday so you can leave him and his mate in Burger King afterwards and then nip off to Patpong for a quick one. Whatever that one may be.

Three stops from the river too (Chong Nonsi and Surasak before arriving at Saphan Taksin) if you wanna take a boat down there.

Not quite sure why one would want to drive from Pattaya to Bangkok and then be stressed out trying to deal with the insane traffic and deal with finding your Hotel. ?

This guy is comming up for a holiday with his kid and the last thing ya want to do is be stressed up to fuk before it even starts.

The bus trip up is very pleasent and quick and drops you dead smack in the middle of BKK.

You then walk outside the bus station and onto the BTS. IT'S so fookin easy innit.

As long as you have booked a hotel within walking distance of a BTS station you are in for a very easy little Holiday.

    Anyway, whatever eh.

Get ya arse down to Sapan Taxin BTS station and buy a day pass on the Tourist ferry. Ya can then float up and down the river and check shit out.

A very pleasent way to spend the day. Not to many tourists around at the moment which is quite the bonus.
