She asked her mother to do a home vid of her singing after she came across a request on the net for children to enter a talent contest. I just thought it as a scam in getting us to pay a fee.
They never asked for any money and after they'd received her vid she was asked to attend an audition in BKK. She and the missus went and I looked after the other 2. Obviously she passed the audition and went on to sing on the show in the vid. The vid was shown on TV on Saturday night. By Sunday morning she'd received over 200 requests as a friend on 'Farcebook'. So she's happy.
Never underestimate the worth of supportive parenting mate. She is talented, versatile and bi lingual. That in itself reflect well on the way she has been raised.
Kids don’t look that happy by accident so take some credit for that.

Just a follow up to my above thread. Things died a death with regards to my daughters involvement with 'Workpoint Studios' in BKK. So she, all by herself 10 year old, without me or my wife's knowledge, applied to 'CH 7' for a ...... (can't think of the word at the mo). Anyway, they asked her to send in a video of what she did/does best kinda thing. The wife did the video and the daughter did her thing. A song etc.
Last week they called her in as they are currently doing a family talent thing/competition. Wife and kids, 4 inc wife, went to BKK last week to do an audition. Can I say right now that I will not participate in any way in any playing a part in this. I'm extremely camera shy I'm sorry to say. My wife and kids fully understand.
Our daughter passes the audition and the wife and the kids are accepted too. The studio are peeved I didn't partake.
Anyway they went to BKK yesterday as a family group, minus me, and passed the TV shoot. For that expenses of 3,000 Baht was paid, less tax. All I can tell you, second hand, was that the TV producers were OTT regards my daughters.
Following that, the 'CH 7' studios are coming around to our house on Tuesday to do a film(?) shoot, in the back end of nowhere, to do another shoot in the children's/daughters home surroundings. I personally will avoid all media coverage as I possible can. But I will take, and post, photos of the occasion. Pics to follow about Wednesday hopefully.
My wife has had discussions with the TV producers and they seem very positive regarding our children, daughters mainly, We have a son. All being well and things go right for this stage then they are being promised 100,000 Baht if they win through.
Gonna leave things there as there's a little more too it, but hopefully, come Wednesday, I'll have some pics up and running.

Grow some balls man, don't be a shrinking violet and stand up and show your kids, wife and the world how proud you are of your littleuns.
We all know you are ginger on here.
AIthough I can see you now on the cover of the Thai NME with the title FARANGUTANG

Best of luck to your little talented ones mate.

Thanks for that Nev but to put things straight. My daughters name is Amanda but she was told, at some stage, to say that her name is 'Alice'. I'm not fully aware of the reasons of when and why but 'I say nothing'. My daughters name is Amanda O'Hare and I'm not ashamed of it. She has a few vids on Youtube under that name.

I appreciate your kind words Dill but I am what I am. Nothing will change that and my kids are very understanding. My wife also. Let the knockers knock.

just watched a couple of vids of your daughter. very talented and that takes some courage to get up on a stage and do what she did, especially when you are putting her in a talent show where she is likely to get panned by the Thai version of Simon Cowell and co.

I don't mean to knock you Prag, but as a father I cant believe you are gonna pass up the opportunity of what should be one of the proudest times of your life.

Forget the cameras are there and just let the thats my girl and chip off the old block emotions flow out

Thats the last of me trying to convince you of what to do and I wish your daughter all the best and hope she nails it mate.

Agree. Chill out and embrace the moment. As our kids grow up opportunities to show support and love for them are rare.

Come Tuesday things will be different in that in the house they're just doing a family background kinda thing. When the family went to Bkk all had to take part in a dance routine behind Amanda/Alice when she sang. Knowing that in advance was a big deterrent for me as I'd been filmed before when she was in the 'Workpoint Sudios' and I froze. Can't explain why, but I did. Come this Tuesday I'll be around during the filming but the last thing I want is to freeze again and embarrass myself, and more so my family.
Attached vid is her first demo for 'Workpoint Studio'. I think.

If I recall correctly. Thais are given a proper name and a nickname at birth. I didn't like that idea. So when my kids were born we gave them just the one name., their real first one.
But as per normal it's Thai practice so you can't do that. This is Thailand. It's the Thai way or nowt. So when our daughter was first called to the studios they insisted that she be called by her nickname. WTF? My wife went along with that 'mumbo jumbo' siht (anagram) and asked Amanda what nickname she would like? She likes the name 'Alice' so.............

Now if all my family were wearing FREE 'We love Teakdoor.com Forum' shirt. How many hits would Teakdoor get? I'll send the address where to send the polo shirts. Do we have a selection of colours to pick from yet?

    Great thread!

Totally unrelated, but does your lad lose his glasses quite often?

Yes. And he breaks them a lot. Boys being boys. But somehow he never breaks them. It's always someone else.

It's really nice to see kids with loads of confidence yet still polite and not brash. That comes from good parenting.
