    Sukhumvit 13

Had confirmation today that my new UK passport was ready to be picked up from VFS in the Trendy Office building Soi 13. Took the application there early last week so know where it is.

For collection, my intent is to go to BKK from Phuket on the morning of 9th April, and after hotel check-in, spend the afternoon at the Bangkok Motor Show. Evening will be some drinks and food, picking up the new passport Monday morning before returning to Phuket in the afternoon. I will be flying solo, M'Sahib looking after our zoo.

So, any recommendations for hotels? A cursory Google brought up The Citrus on Soi 13 so just along the road from VFS. An Executive King room (30 sqm) I can get for 2440 (I want clean, comfortable and reasonably spacious). There's a roof top pool so a swim could be in order early evening before heading out for drinks.

Anyone with any knowledge of this place, or can recommend an alternative?

I'm completely unfamiliar with this area, apart from a couple of afternoon drinks last week at the Landmark after handing my application in. So, any decent bars where I can enjoy a few beers without being hassled, and within reasonable walking distance?

I think we stayed in the Citrus for a week or so when we were desperately trying to get her visa.
Rooms were small, no breakfast, staff were not exactly friendly.

It's bloody convenient for VFS and there's a decent sports pub nearbye but I'm sure there are better in the area.

As long as you don't stay in the Nana Hotel, everything will be hunky-dory.

There's always the Sheraton Grand only a stones throw away from Soi 13.

Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit | 5 Star Hotel Bangkok

But if you want some fun stay on Soi 4.

In a rush of blood to the head I did think of asking if he would share his Tinder log-in. However, I calmed down and reasoned it might not be a smooth move.

One criteria is that I'll be walking around, and particularly in the morning, don't want to get to VFS like a wet rag.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll give it a miss (though the rooftop pool was tempting, and their site does include a buffet breakfast).

Looks ok, but maybe just a little too far from where I want to be.

One of the New Delux rooms at the Dynasty sounds ok, though their site doesn't mention wifi.

They must have Wifi. I've stayed there dozens of times. Even when I was on an expense account and could have stayed anywhere. It's a piece of Bangkok history.
Call them and make sure. It's not fancy but very clean and well run. Don't expect The Oriental.

If you've never been to that area you have to go to Soi 4 and check out the go go bars in Nana Plaza. If that's to your liking there are lots of pubs and sports bars in the area. It's a very lively area.

Pleasant, good music, absolutely straight and without commercial propositions in your face every 5 minutes. That said, I'm not averse to spending time with a good smile and a fit body, purely for medicinal purposes of course.

I usually stay here nowadays. They just remodeled again, nice and fresh. A bit pricey @ about 3,200/night but the restaurant is badass. Breakfast is great too. Large buffet spread. Large rooms and your own wifi router in the room as well.

Sukhumvit Bangkok Residence | Adelphi Suites Serviced Apartment&Hotel

    Restaurant in the lobby:

Popular Sukhumvit Dining & Delivery | Monsoon Bangkok

Its on Soi 8, same side as Nana, Soi 4. BTS is Right there too. Motorbike taxis everywhere. Pretty close to Sukhumvit so no need hotel Tuk Tuk's, can walk easily.
