Ok, so you have a 'blocklist' with 'nutters' you ignore, mention it/them in every second post and expect they fok off... yep, that's rational behaviour and a realistic expectation.
The dope's got me on his block list too yet he's happily able to stalk me and then trolls any thread he can get away with.

One of the reasons I like Bangkok is for those little places like cheap Charlies in those little alleyways. They give character to the place. I have enjoyed watching the punters in Nana Plaza from a little balcony bar just up the escalator and right. I think 65B for jackcok. Been there so many times and still don't even know if it's got a name. Then down to maybe bus stop for a quick meal. Then off to those little bars like cheap charlies with friends. In the early 90s use to frequent soi 33. Liked Renoirs which has closed. Soi 33 bars changed over the years now only go to the Aussie bar there to get my fill of Australian Rules Football. Use to be some real characters in the bars around Washington square before the redevelopment.

Tax, did you ever drink there regularly? I liked the bar which is one of the very few places where oikish antipodeans and scummy Brits rarely frequent but is redolent of a proper English pub. Thursday night quiz is good as indeed is the clientele which always has we more intelligent and sophisticated in abundance.

i like that soi, i find the comings and goings very entertaining, and for a voyeur of the human condition soi 7/1 is hard to beat. such a wide varitety of punters. its a 21st century gin lane and a great place to waste a couple of hours watching and inwardly sneering. there but for the grace of god and all that.

the best spot is undoubtedly the aussie bar opposite the industrial scale suck shop, but it has recently changed hands and the clientele it now attracts are a gloomy lot. there used to be some world class banter as the punters passed by and the girls offered their services. it was sometimes full of terry57 types and the entertainment was excellent.

the location of the pickled liver, right at the end of the soi means that the view from the outside seating area is restricted somewhat, but i do sometimes drink inside. i was there last week to watch leeds v. newcastle and there was a decent crowd of supporters in there, not the noisy riff raff you can encounter in the nana boozers when a game is on. as you say, it is certainly different from other english pubs that area.

i also like the queen vic. opposite soi cowboy, thats another haven of tranquility. they also do excellent all day full english breakfasts for those times when thai food just wont do it.

Sir, you are a miserable sod . I don't think my posts merited a "red". It is fortunate that others here have a sense of humour. Are you intent on reducing the membership of this forum by driving posters away ? It certainly seems that way as there is not the least hint of anything constructive in your posts.

I have sent you a private message which says I am not going to retaliate by sending a "red" to you. Now all you have to do is look up the meaning of the word "banter".

You must be thinking of someplace else. I lived on Soi 11 in 2000 and 2001. The alley that connected Foodland to Soi 7 was just a bunch of little internet shops etc. The other side was street food and a few tables and, yes, a fortune teller. In around 2002 they made a bunch of little beer bars up and down the alley. At that time I lived on Soi 4 at the Omni.

    Bangkok changes ...

Well, I have mixed memories of that alley.

It was cool, cramped and full of character and characters.

Had bars, hairdressers, internet shops, massage shops and street food.

Never saw the LadyBoys ... but, no doubt, being Bangkok, they presence was not far away.

I used to like to eat at the open food court on Soi 7 where the alleyway emptied ... till it closed a few years ago.

My sister was greatly amused by the 'No Blacks' sign in one of the Alley's shop windows.

Bangkok changes ... but it's always sad when a place that formed much of your pleasurable experiences is replaced or destroyed ... as I was when the Lumpini Night Market shut it's doors.

    .
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

There used to be booths in that alley, where you could make a voice recording and have it made into 45 vinyl disc.

Lucky Luke's had nothing to do with the red, it was all this drivel but a guy who has spent a couple of weeks in the Nana area.
