Cheapest & quickest way from Suvarnabhumi to...

    ...Sukhumvit Soi 13?

I know this is a bit of a re-post, but I didn't know which airport I'd be flying in to before.

I land at 09:40 (no luggage to collect, it's a day trip) and have GOT to be at Sukhumvit Soi 13 by 10:30 at the very, very latest. (A Monday).

If you think a regular taxi (meter) is my best option, how much do you think I'll have to pay?

    Thanks in advance.

Helicopter. It's impossible to do the trip in that time frame.

Given distances, traffic and likely sunspot activity and the fact that it's Monday,
I'd start working on excuses when you arrive between 11 and 11:30.

Even taking the airport link @ 10:02, you'd get close in about 24 minutes, then probably another 15+ minutes on a motorcycle taxi.

It will take you at least 15 minutes to get from the aircraft to the taxi/airport link.

That assumes your flight arrives on time and is a domestic arrival and you don't have to clear customs. In which case I would rebook your outbound flight.

Quite honestly if this is an appointment you cannot miss better to reschedule and stay at home.

It will take at best 26 mins to get from the airport taxi stand to Soi 13 even IF the taxi driver knows the quickest way Exit expressway at Rama 9 and turn down Asok, then right on 21 etc. which he may not. So that gives you 24 mins to get from the aircraft to the taxi and then get a taxi with no delay.

IF you can get to the Airport link/buy a ticket to Makkasan by 10:02 it will take the train 22 mins to get to Makkasan. As the express is not longer running. That makes it 10:24 gives you 6 minutes in/on a taxi/motorbike if there are any there not including the time to get out of the station to the taxis.

Are you skint and counting your last penny?
A couple hundred baht either way is not going to break ya, is it?

To inquire about such trivialities is quite angst.
Especially when taxis are still a good value in the big bad city.

I wouldn't go meter - make your own deal with the driver.

    Up to Suk Soi 13, B400 +
Maybe more, depending on the driver and yourself.

For someone who lived in soi 13 and go there regularly

1 Assuming your plane landed on time you'll be late,as other state
2 You dont say the airline but if budget like Air Asia Nok its probably 10-20 minute walk to the sunway which is faster to makkasan
3 The new Airport link is a bastard of a place to get a cab, maybe motor cycle taxis
4 As others say the shortcut via 21 is the way to go but even speaking enough tHAI WONT ENSURE YOUR LIKELY ESAN DRIVER will know bangkok any better than you and will hread down Asoke to Sukhumvit and count ths sois to 13

If it was me Id travel day before, accept you may miss the cut off or be prepared to be first the next day.

I doubt JesusO'Toxin with a RTP escort helipad and outriders can match your schedule ,as for the cost a metred aircon comfortable will be under 500 baht and maybe as little at 212 that I have done at night

Sounds like he has an appointment for passport submission at the Trendy Building. If the timing was that tight I'd arrive the day before.

Thought I read somewhere that the airport link station at PhayaThai was close for renovation remodeling or something. If not then that is the cheapest way.

However I've been wrong before. But even if it is open

Add 4 minutes to above for the extra to PhayaThai makes 10:28 then wait for a BTS train 2 mins = 10:30 then add two minutes per station at 5 stations = 10:40 then walk to.. 5 mins? 10:45 at best 10:43.

    spoiler alert,

I'll wager we've not heard the last of our intrepid traveller,I hope he posts the receipts once becalmed.

I do not always succeed but in two centurys hereI've slowly learned when dealing with the immovable yet wriggly local bureaucrats

1 Have loads of time, arrive early or at last reasonable appt of the day so they must serve you but want to go home too,and be unfazed if they say come back tomorrow.
2 have loads of pix, copies all sizes signed in blue and black even this may still lead to attempts for 'La mordida' T money. The turd who tried this at Suan Plu was almost in tears when asked for 12 yes 12 passport copies ( i dipped into bag and produced 36 to much chagrin).I get 100 done annualy for 50 baht and what with driving licenc ehouse stuff hotels usualy waste 10 bahts worth!
3 Smile ,be silent no banter,no seaking Thai
4 Dress conservatively powder blue pants suit or twin set and pearls
5 Certain louche demeanour so they know its their time their wasting not yours the glance at the paper or casual yawn sooner than the watch or phone
6 A nice lawn or cotton shirt bottle of cold water (added Gilbeys for long hauls).

Look forward to the update from our rapid traveller.

A german friend sai to me if you ponder why Thais do things as they do you'll get a headache, have cold one and move on.

Of course hole thing prob a troll from tv writng a book about his crsip packet collection with por in deepest Esan

    Not gonna make it.

I do this route a couple of times a month to meet some mates in town.

Always takes just over an hour to complete from Airport Link to pub (The Sportsman Soi 13).

Train to Makkasan. (25mins plus around a 10 min wait on average)
Hop foot it from there to Petchaburi underground. (5mins)
Petchaburi to Sukhumvit (1 stop and 10 mins to get ticket and train)
Smoke 2 ciggies to Soi 13. (around 10 mins)

That makes it an hour if all goes well without even adding getting out the airport, going to the station and battling crowds.

    --EDIT--

Looks like he has made the run already.

    Interested to know the outcome...
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.
