    Minivan rental in BKK

I've got some friends coming over with 2 kids and along with me and my boy and a couple from BKK and their two kids I would like to hire a minivan in BKK to drive all of us to Koh Chang for our weeks holiday there. I am strongly against taking the bus or hiring a mini van and driver, prefering to drive it myself so any stops on the way are easily handled, we have wheels for the week we are there and can all return happy safely to BKK.

    Any ideas? prices?

    Cheers.

My brother did this years ago (2002 maybe ), either with Avis or Budget, for a week down to Samui and back.
No idea of the price, check their websites out.

I did think of having someone to drive while me and my mates sat in the back of the bus and got nicely pissed...I just got back from a visa run to Mae Sai and am nicely stoked up with booze....

Avis or budget....probably the best bet for a safe and hassle free experience which is top of the list. The cost is irrelevant within reason.

    Damn fine idea!

That's just what the Arabs do when they charter superyachts. The men get on the big bus with all the whores and the women and kids follow along in a dinghy....

Hire a 25 year old pickup and put all the kids in the back and get a lao kao soaked old git to drive it for you.

Or didn't you mean a school bus..?

Yes, any vehicle driven towards Pattaya by a Thai put's the fear of god into me. Been there done that. I don't want to be a news story.

I'd rather drive myself. Does a Thai car license cover driving a minivan?

Is it even allowed? I will probably get beaten up by a bunch of angry minibus driving yaabaa heads.
