Nice try Harry but that's recorded
Are you a'live ?
Had a few good nights in the Saxophone by Victory monument - but have a few beers first as it's a bit dear alewise.
Try Saxophone Pub at Victory Monument. Nice atmosphere, no totty pressing at your crotch, nice upscale place with coeds and couples, mostly host country nationals. Jazz and oldies. Gets better as the night goes on. Draft beers available. Recommended from first hand experience as when in BKK it is always nice to stop in at the Saxophone Piub.

Lady Gaga's huge show rolls into the Rajamangala Stadium on May 25th
Lady Gaga's huge show ,and her fat arse?
Please post pics of the Gaga arse or GTFO ..
Try the Brick Bar at the rear of the Buddy Lodge on Khaosan Rd , nice venue , three live bands on there a night , plus the big bonus is that the Khaosan Rd Soap dodgers have not found it ,
Reason been !!
Its at the rear of the Buddy Lodge which is not your typical 300 Bht flop house .
The clientèle is mainly Thai Students , music can range from Ska ! Hendrix type Rock , and good old time soul music , something for everybody !
Its a great place to rock up with a few friends order a bottle of Jack 'n' ice and your good to go ...
Travel lightly ....
I used to enjoy the Hillary bar on Sukimvit 4 but, last time I was there, all the bands had changed to Rap type bands. Couldn't even stay to finish my beer.
After reading the above post, I may have to even make my way back to Khao San Rd next time I'm in the big city.

It depends what type of music you like. There are a lot of bars that hire bands to go through the motions with Hotel California and Smoke on the Water and that's OK as musical wallpaper while you are playing pool or eyeing up talent on Cowboy and not really focusing on the music.
My own list with a blues and jazz bias would be Saxophone at Victory Monument, Adhere on Samsen Road near Khao San Road, Nothing But The Blues on Thonglor Soi 13 Subsoi 1, Tokyo Joe's on Sukhumvit Soi 26, Brown Sugar (now moved to Prasumen Road near Khao San Road), Mello Yellow on RCA and Fat Gutz on Thonglor. Check 'em out and see what you think.
Thanks for your suggestions 'Krumble' I'll check them out
Hillary Bar used to have a band with an amazing looking singer, but they have not been there recently. Her name was Pui or something like that. Anyone seen her?
Also, the Irish pub next to Thaniya Plaza on Silom has a great band that plays Beatles music
That'll be ' The Better ' and they are brilliant although I didn't know they were still playing there..
There is also live Jazz once a week at the hotel in Soi Phya Nak along side of the Asia hotel. Can't remember the name of the place. About 100 yards down the soi on the right.
Went to the back of Khao San earlier this year, first time I have been anywhere near there for years, pleasantly surprised by the two or three blues/rock band we spotted that night. Does anyone know where I can find some proper heavy metal, a la Metal Zone that was in Lang Suan but closed down a few years back? Cheers, BH
Phra Arthit between Wat Chan Songhkhran and the ferry Tha theres a row of Thai student ars with 'loud' music.
Went to a great place incThonglor a bout a km up from Sukhumvit near Johns old Pie place also some live music around soi 11 ars if your lucky
I you like whacky Lamma out in Lat Phrao has mock Lammas ars and a themed Western pu very thai very tacky very funny
