I thought it was more. Typical women, make you run around in circles trying to accommodate them, and then change their mind in a flash.

klongy I have never said I am a journo....I basically failed english at school. Owning a newspaper doesn't mean that I ever actually write anything for it.

    Bloody english teachers.

Woraburi is usually a good option, though the Euro Park Inn on Soi 1, (right behind Bumrungrad) may be more to the liking of a female. Decent accomodations around 1000 baht seem to be getting scarcer.

I stayed at the Honey Hotel last week. We had one of the 900 baht rooms. It's OK, but just. It's an old place and the rooms are slightly shabby, but everything seemed to work: A few UBC (excuse me, "TrueVisions") channels on TV, decent hot shower, powerful air con (fan adjusts, temp does not).

No elevator, so you have to walk up stairs. Fine for us.

For breakfast you select from a list of set menus: bacon and eggs, or pancakes and sausage, etc.

Location is OK: three hundred meters up Soi 19 on the left side. Quick walk to Sky Train and subway.

Most of the guests we saw seemed to be older European couples. Not so many punters.

The pool is small, but looked incredibly clean.

I'd stay again, but when I'm in Bangkok I'm not in the room much.

    Anyway, the price is right.

About a 3 minute walk to Ratchatewie BTS. 1 Bts stop or a 15 m walk to all the shopping centres a girl could want but just that far enough away from mass tourist area and the undesirables that they attract.

Samran Place hotel Bangkok Thailand - Samran Place Bangkok hotel reviews

Looks a nice place - shame its got no pool but cant have everything suppose. Thinking about the Mandarin on Rama 4 as well. Of the two, any recommendations?

Anyone know they are.... ahem.... guest friendly?

Now stupid question time - when they talk about a single room, that is a room with a double bed isnt it? Its been such a long time since I have had to book a hotel in thailand!
You dont pay them to stay for the night, you pay them to leave in the morning

Mandarin is quite nice but the rooms are a bit small.

    Ive booked into the Samran.

Although I am perfectly secure with my sexuality, I dont think the gay boys could cope. So for their safety i will not umm expose them to it

Seriously though one to keep in mind, shame my laptop I am going to be bringing isnt wifi. Probably a good thing as I wold just stay indoors all day!

Well this answer come too late for the OP I am sure, but for any others out there, check out Bangkok Suites. Centrally located, free wi-fi in your room, about 1 hour a day free in their internet cafe per day, free breakfast for two, all in all, 750 a night I think. You can look them up on the internet, and they don't use any brokers or travel agents, so the best deal is directly with them, over the internet.

They also have good, cheap roomservice food.

I've spent some nights in the Atlanta Hotel in 1992-3, though located just near a christian church it was guest friendly at the time. But the rooms (around 300 bahts) were very basic (old furnitures, cold shower and the view is so so), the pool was not very attracting and the staff not very friendly. OK for one or two nights.

I also spent a night in the Honey last june and they are guest friendly, I cannot comment to much about it coz I was more busy with my guest than inspecting the room facilities. Just avoid the rooms on the car park lvl as they can be very noisy.

Yep can highly recommend Samran, third time I've crashed there now. Just returned from bkk, kanners and HH and we certainly spent most of our time at Samran. Close to BTS and plenty of shopping centres and markets, plus heaps of street food in the area.

When I have a layover & just need a bed, I use Darjelling on 18, Best Western 'Hiptique' on 13, Smart Suites on 11, Ibis Nana & Sathorn, or Merisess on 16. All are 1200 or less usually. ps: forgot 41 Suites. 50m from Suk & 150 from Phrom Phong, Emporium etc.

Stayed there last week as well AC .
All the 900b rooms were taken so I opted the car park level 800b.
Window opens to a dismal view of the wall divide , no fridge (same in the 900b rooms).
Breakfast of toast/bacon 2 eggs was dismal as well , Tea was ok.

I prefer the Promenade Soi 8.
Its a quiet and a fairly "clean soi".
Rooms 1000b, breakfast is very good but extra b150.
Has a fridge, mini bar beers 55-65b.
3 min walk to nana bts .
Most odd numbered rooms have a view and a breeze.
Can ask for late check out (3pm) and get away no extra charge . Sweet.
