A few beach sculptures from this years festival

I had a meander round without FF2 today so I could focus on drinking in the culture vulture vibe

This was a lovely young lady from Brazil named Val.

We struck up a convivial conversation as amateur art critics. She was warm and friendly in a way that I generally find Brazilian women (of which there are many on the Gold Coast for some weird reason) are not. They are used to being chased by hot blooded Latino men, who push hard, so my low key approach does not usually get me very far.

But the most prized pieces were saved for last and did not disappoint

I sneaked into the live band tent in time to catch the end of the headline set

One of the artists was in residence at the beach sculptures today

The light hits the sculpture at different angles at different times of day

I try and get different perspectives on each sculpture to squeeze out all the artisticity

This one is entitled Skittles and is by the resident piss artist.

I find that people look at me funny if I am sitting swigging from a full size bottle of red so these minis make it look a bit more civilised but they can still draw attention.

After the 3rd mini-bottle I was starting to get a mini-horn from this lady flaunting some ankle and wrist

Looks like a monster new complex going up at the south end of Broadbeach. I will have to give that a closer inspection to see what is the go.
